I've worked in several restaurants, and I know things get crazy sometimes. With those experiences I've NEVER in my life felt inspired to leave a negative review on a restaurant, but here we are: There's nothing to excuse what I received instead of chicken makhani - it's a literal tray of clotty liquid underneath a full 1/4" of oil. No rice or naan to even attempt to sop it up. The samosas are slightly better, but not by a whole lot. If this is the norm, then I can't imagine how this place got such high scores. I'm actually angry about having received this, I paid $20 to have to look for a dumpster to throw away something that looks, smells, and tastes of course I tried to make it work! vile so it doesn't stink up my hotel room.
I feel really mixed about this place. I tried it for the first time ordering from grubhub, and there were highs and lows. I ordered samosas, mutton biryani, and chicken karahi. First of all, I was not sent karahi, I was sent achar chicken. It was pretty good, but..wasn't what I asked for. The biryani was quite good, although there was a half of a potato in there that seemed like it just existed to create volume. Either way, it was good biryani. But then there were the samosas. First of all they were baked, when a samosa is supposed to be fried, and they were BURNT. Badly burnt. I don't know how any self respecting indian/pakistani restaurant serves burnt baked samosas. So I'm torn. Delicious biryani, a dish I didn't order, and bad samosas.
I've tried pretty much everything on the menu over the couple of years since I first found out about it. Food is phenomenal, one of the best places for Desi food I've come across. The Mirch Special Biryani and chicken 65 are one of a kind in Chicago, I didn't find the same taste anywhere else. Other places have good biryanis too, but the special twist puts this firmly as one of the best in our rotation. The karahi dishes are to die for too! I hope the Mirch taste lives on in Chicago.
Ordered karahi gosht , box was halfway full with oil, order was given in a paper bag where oil started leaking outside the bag. Overly priced , disgusting taste of food... Do Not spend your money here.. Ghareeb Nawaz 100x better food...
We order chicken biryani to try first time and it’s absolutely garbage biryani just full of masala and chiken no rice only 2 spoon rice in 1 biryani. Kindly ignore this mirch restaurant
Wonderful service by 1Am in the morning, Awesome food must try Lahori mutton karahi
This place is quickly becoming mine and my husband’s go to for excellent takeout. The service is friendly and thorough- they even threw in some extra naan for us!- and the food is absolutely to die for, I’ve never had better butter chicken. It’s always a great night when we order from Mirch and we can’t wait to try the whole menu!
Omgggggggggg this was the best food I’ve had in a long long time. My first experience eating Indian and all I can say is WOW I can’t wait to come back ! Thank you
Nearly flavorless biryani. Couldn’t find any spices in it. Samosas were right garbage as well. I think the meat ones are off the food service frozen variety. Chicken korma and aloo were both greasy as all hell. Never again! There are so many better options in the neighborhood. Sometimes you strike out when you give a new place a chance.
They have the best Indian/Pakistani food, great service and very hospitable. The food had authentic taste and so flavourful. We had achar chicken, and bhindi fry, and both were absolutely yummy. The raita and tea was tasty as well. The server made sure we had everything we needed and was very polite. The service was quick too. I highly recommend this restaurant.
