Mercado Restaurant

First of all the location is a bit unconventional. It’s in the middle of an industrial area and so out of place that on our way to the restaurant we had to check again to make sure we had the right location. From outside it looks pretty humble but it’s a whole different story when you get inside. The design is very pleasant and tasteful. The servants are all nice and friendly and the wine and food is beyond this world good. I loved the grilled octopus which was seasoned and cooked to perfection with vegetables and potatoes as a side. The grilled sea bass was also very tasty. All and all it was a great experience and I strongly recommend this place specifically for special occasions.

Wow, what an amazing experience. I was hoping to find a good Portuguese restaurant in the GTA. I was so pleased when entering into an artists ambiance of Portuguese dining. Not only were my surroundings captivating, the food was outstanding, well prepared, and presented. Each dish was art work of art, full of colour and exquisite taste. The chefs are to be applauded. Our server Vanessa, with the glasses contributed to the experience, smiling and eager to be of assistance. We also met the owner, friendly and welcoming. The food, in all honesty, has to be the best Portuguese cuisine I have had in a long time. This place will definitely see me again. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Food was excellent. Service was beyond excellent. Interiors the same, can’t say more good things about this place. So happy we got to try it.nnWe went mid afternoon, between meal times so there was only one other table.nnWe had the fried egg on top potato sticks. Interesting starter.nnThe brioche bread came out warm and was served with chorizo butter and tapenade, this was pretty good. Bread was fluffy and fresh. I could have eaten a whole one by myself.nnThe seafood black pasta was one of the best I’ve had. I would return for this. Flavourful, complex and simply delicious.nnThe duck paella was also very good although the pasta overshadowed the paella in flavour.nnWe had the brûlée limón tart, just enough acidity and sweetness to balance the flavours.nnInteriors were beautiful which made eating there even more of a pleasure.nnOur server was charming and she asked us how the dishes were each time and we felt she was honestly wanting to know.nnI plan to return with a few more friends.nnI highly recommend dining here, it’s worth the money!

The server was super friendly and sweet. All our dishes were scrumptious. Our dinner conversation was funny and entertaining. We had a lot of laughter, and hopefully, the other guests were not annoyed by our cheerful reunion of old friends. Our friendship goes back more than 53 years.

Food and drinks were absolutely phenomenal! The octopus was cooked absolutely perfectly, so tender! The rest of the seafood and dishes were awesome too. The only thing I don’t recommend is the pistachio buttercream dessert, it was tasteless, not a lot of flavor. Everything else was fabulous.
