Marui Bakery

Their breads are really fluffy and soft. However, it's pricier compared to other Chinese bakeries. Don't expect to get greeted or good customer service here. The cashiers (maybe owners) are usually on the iPad or laptop watching some asian drama.

My family has been a loyal patron of this bakery shop. All their pastries taste so much better than the other Chinese bakery shops in Greater Vancouver (I think). However, sometimes their white bread can turn bad quite easily, like in a couple of days. Hope they can improve this. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Tucked away in the London Drug plaza on kingsway. Family run. Amazingly soft buns, egg tarts are super flaky, and sponge cakes are light and moist. I like it better here than most asian bakeries. They are normally out of stock by late afternoon. They bake a lot of fresh items between 12pm and 1pm so I suggest going around this time if you want fresh buns. And yes, cash only. Service is not super friendly but growing up with it, I'm used to the brusque ways asian shops typically conduct their business.

Small bakery who manages to maintain high quality, compared to saint germain who tried harder to expand their corporate instead
