Pretzels for our wedding: Andy’s Bakery makes the most delicious German bread and after tasting the pretzels from a number of bakeries we decided that theirs tasted & looked the most authentic. Although response time wasn’t fast they were great to deal with and even offered to deliver the pretzels out to a bakery in Langley where they sell their bread. We were very grateful not to have to find someone to drive into Vancouver on the morning of our wedding. We set-up a pretzel bar during cocktail hour and it was a huge hit!
I go there for my very occasional piece of Bienenstich or Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte when needing a taste of home. You won't find more original German cake for sale in Canada. Just delicious. The Apfelstrudel can compete with those I had in Vienna and across Baviera. Only the Christmas treats could be more authentic. Bread and Pretzel's are very good, too. Keep up the good work!
There is only one kind of bread that meets our expectation and taste and in my opinion should be included as part of healthy diet and that is ANDIES HARVEST bread. And for those who have problem with chewing ANDIES LANDBROT. How anyone can prefer the often sugary mush sold at Costco, the Superstore etc is beyond my comprehension. I spend 1.5 hours in Traffic in order to buy and store it in my freezer. Not being able to purchase ANDIES BREAD was among several reasons I did not move my family to the Vancouver Island. P.J
I was here for some German bread to give a present to my German lawyer who is a very nice person. The German girl who works at the bakery is very helpful and suggested me what to get. I got Pretzel. Another German who is a customer suggested to get beer too cuz pretzel goes with beer. Germans are fun and friendly. So, go ahead and get some German bread at Andy' :
Andy lied to me. I asked something filling because I was "very hungry." I paid $7 for the schnitzel sandwich, which was smaller than the sausage sandwich, had the consistency of beef jerky and was served on a stale bun. I was disappointed beyond my imagination. Andy: next time a hungry person asks you if you serve meals with filling portions, just say no. It takes courage to be honest, which you are lacking even more than the ability to make a sandwich. You should be ashamed of yourself.
An example of fantastic customer service!!! I came here looking for holiday stollen bread on recommendation from another retailer at the Christmas Market happening at VANCOUVER convention center plaza. Left the shop a voice mail complaining that they were closed before 4:00PM. As I was in the process of writing a scathing google review, the shop called back asking me if I wanted a small or large stollen. Since I was still parked at the back of the store, he came out and said “I’m sorry, but we are closed on Mondays, but since you are here, here is your stollen”. What a fabulous customer service. Now I am looking forward to tasting my holiday stollen
An authentic German bakery with European styled ryw breads to the old styled apple strudel. Very small, best for takeout. Baked goods made on site and smells wonderful when you get in.
I used to buy the Rustic German Rye for Decades at the local Russian stores in Washington state. Now I can't find it at the store I always shop. I asked why it's no longer there and was told Andy's is no longer in business. Please tell me this is not true. Regards, Artur P.S. Thank you so much for a speedy reply. I'm so glad you guys are still around. I will be impatiently waiting for the US operation to resume as before. It's a shame I was unable to get my father some of your wonderful bread before he passed away last week, it was his favorite, because it closely resembles the bread we have in the former USSR, and you are the only bakery it seams in North America that makes it. Thanks again, and all the best. Artur
Delicious classic German baking and while they don't have that much sweet selection, their poppy seed cake is very good - after so many years in business, Andy's does indeed know what they're doing! - Mimi's Cake Tour
I found out that the bakery is under new owners. So, I thought I give it a try. I was blown away by the choices and flavors. The staff was friendly and accepting. A real German treat. Don't forget to take some rye bread home!
