I am a senior citizen who unfortunately suffered a minor stroke. I love going to this pool to exercise my legs but I think the water is a bit cold. This pool is very convenient for me. It's clean and spacious and I think the staff are very friendly. I would very much appreciate if you can increase the water temperature a couple of degrees as I notice there are several small children and older adults shivering in the cold water including myself. Great pool otherwise.nDownsidenWater is too cold. Please increase temperature.
I go there for swimming. It was a great experience quite clean pool with necessary equipment for the beginner learners like me. Really enjoyed
Synopsis:nCommunity: 5/5, community is present and friendlynFacility: 3/5, weight room is missing squat rack, barbell, and cable machinenFinal Score: 4/5nnCommunity Review:nThe Main Street Community Centre seems to get a lot of engagement in their programs. Both registered programs such as swim classes or children’s camps and drop-in programs such as aquafit seem to be very popular. I love that they provide these programs and spaces for the elderly and children.nPeople who visit the facility are all friendly. I've had many very positive and friendly exchanges in both the weight room and in the pool and changeroom area. I’ve never felt unsafe or discouraged by anyone’s behavior.nnFacility Review:nPool:nThe change rooms and pool are located 2 levels below the ground entry level, which you can access by elevator and by stairs. The temperature of the pool is a bit warmer than the Beaches community centre pool. Change rooms are separated by gender and there are lockers that you can use your own locks on, as well as lockers that are coin operated. Pools are pretty busy in the weekday morning and weekend lane swim times. No significant complaints here, life guards and staff are also very friendly.nWeight Room:nThe cardio and weight room is located 1 level below the ground entry, accessible also by elevator and by stairs. They have several treadmills, a rowing machine, an elliptical machine, and some bicycle machines. These seem to be getting quite a lot of good use by many people including myself. They have a good range of weights for dumbbells and some benches, as well as a few combo machines.nMy issue with this weight room is that there is not a single barbell present, and no cable machines. Many weightlifting exercises can be done with a barbell, some plates, and a squat cage - not just squats, but deadlifts, bench press, rows, pull ups, etc. Similarly, a cable machine with adjustable heights can be used for a huge variety of strength and rehab exercises. Instead we are limited to the few fixed exercises that the combo machines can offer.nOne final small complaint. The ceiling of this room is really low, so on the combo leg-raises structure you aren’t actually able to do any pull-ups, as you would hit your head on the ceiling at the top of your pull up. Perhaps a bar that is placed a little further from the ceiling would resolve this issue.
ProsnThis location includes the basic equipment for your fitness goals and daily exercise. Steps away from public transportation TTC and GO train Even during rush hours the facilities do not get uncomfortable. The prices are extremely affordable and the staff is good enough, although not present often.nnConsnThe last means trespassing in these facilities is very easy. When they solve their attendance/security issue they will get a 5 star.
They have a nice pool a small gym. You can register to swimming classes or aerobics, but if you are not registered you can enter for free to the pool at certain hours during the week or use the gym for a reasonable fee.
