We’ve been coming here for 30+ years. We always love our trips. We’ve had issues in the past with Camp Hosts but the last two years with Ronni and Tim have been amazing. I will be sad to see them go at the end of the season. They have a lot on their plate with all of the restrictions but are handling everything so well. They are super friendly and truly made our experience this year wonderful.
The rates for the campground have increased by a fair bit and it is pretty expensive for dry camping. That said the campground is well maintained and very pretty. The river is gorgeous and the experience was top notch. Fires are allowed in the pits only, but they're big so thats not a problem. The on-site staff are a bit rough around the edges but they have a lot to deal with so we tried to cut them some slack. Clean out your fire pit and campsite when you leave!
This campground is awesome! We showed up on the day of and found a spot. They had them listed on the wall of the ranger station right when you pull in. We showed up after it was closed and paid with cash. The campsite has showers, bathrooms, a basketball court, a playground, horseshoe, and is right next to a beautiful river with a rope swing! I can’t wait to go back.
We are in love! So this is a county campground so your first time booking may be a bit confusing to get through, but when you arrive to the campground to check in the people are so helpful and kind and helped walk me through it. The sites are close together, but that wasn't an issue for us. There is a basketball hoop, playground, horseshoe pits, and flushing toilets. We also got to experience the river. It is AMAZING. My girls and I went river walking for about an hour and found some amazing spots to swim explore. We can't wait to go back next year.
Perfect place to take my three year old on her first camp trip this June.. So much fun that we booked another trip before summer was over. Site 35/36/37/40 were a good choice for us with lots of grass for tents and running around. Other sites had much less space so be careful which one you book if you need room. We had 5 families in our group and booked three sites next to each other and it worked out really well. This place has great, child friendly, river access and swimming hole. No cell service in the camp which was lovely and Fred Meyers only ten miles away if we needed things like ice/camp wood, ect. They did sell wood on site as well and we bought a ton. On the August trip we all swam in the river and found a bunch of neat rocks. There is a generous sized playground, a sand pit, basketball hoop and flushing toilets sometimes they would be clogged up though. Thanks to the camp host for being so kind and helpful Felesha?! She was the reason we booked another trip. Hoping we run into her at another park on the coast next summer.
Although we have stayed other times at Kilches currently as of October 1st 2022 the park is currently closed and only is allowing day use area for a fee of $10 a day we have no idea why catches River Campground has been closed at this point and are due to call the facility and get a hold of somebody to find out why I'll report back later after I find out why it's closed. Oct 4th, 2022 @ 10:18am. After receiving a call from the county they said the park floods during the winter. So most all camp sites are closed, all but 3 RV sites. But we were there the day before and found no camp sites open and the whole park closed. So who knows what is going on!
The campground is close by day use area still open.
Well groomed campsites, friendly hosts. The only complaint was the showers need to be pointed outward a little more. I had to crouch down and place my head on the wall to wash my hair. It would be nice if more water spigots were placed closer to front sites
We came in late June 2018. Only $4 for day use, ready access to the river but super shallow, so both dog and kid friendly! Beautiful area, campsites are landscaped, there are real bathrooms and coin operated showers. Each campsite comes with a fire pit and grill and a picnic table. Would love to come back!
Its a great campsite, there's a park for kids, and bathrooms on both ends. Easily accessible and cleaned once a day each morning. The river is shallow on one end and deep on the other with a rope swing, great for adults, children and dogs. While all of these things were great, the only thing that i didn't enjoy was how the actual area for camping was. You park your car and sleep in a patch of grass right next to it. You can see and hear the people on the other end of the camp. Their aren't any trees in between or anything for privacy besides some foliage to seperate sections. if it had been busy that weekend we would have been sleeping a few feet aways from at least 3 different families because that's how close they are. Luckily we had gotten the biggest section available 28 and weren't confined to the smaller sections like the ones we saw. Overall it really was nice though. Only a 15 minute drive to the tillamook cheese factory, and another 15 to the nearest beach bay city 20 minutes for Rockaway beach which is better.
