Surfside Resort

Nice private access to the beach. The room was very small with enough room to turn around. We did book a "sleep only" room. We were leaving very early. The bed was relatively comfortable. Coffeemaker was in the bathroom with good coffee. Sad that we didn't have screens in the side window because I wanted to have an ocean breeze. Price was all right for it being summer.

The staff was very nice and hospitable. Location is very close to the beach. Our room had a very good view. The room was clean and a home like feel. The fire place was a great touch.

Great ocean view. My dog loves this motel and beach. Great friendly staff. Just a few stair steps to the beach: Nice size pool. Highly recommend.

I have stayed at the Surfside Resort twice. I actually made my second reservation based on my first experience and I happily would have given the hotel a five star rating if I was only going off of my opinion of the rooms. The rooms are a little dated, but they are clean and comfortable. The sleeper room is adequate with a bed and a tv, and the double queen suite was more than I expected with a full kitchen, sitting area and separate bedroom. The hotel is right on the beach. My complaint is with the front desk staff. When I called for the reservation they would not tell me if I could check out late. When I checked in, the woman told me that I had to ask in the morning. I called the front desk at 8am and talked to David. He told me that they could not extend my stay til noon (check out is 11am) because housekeeping would be there AT 11am. I explained that I would be without a vehicle until noon and asked if there was any way to extend the time. He flatly refused. At 11am I hauled all of my belongings to the office and sat there until 12pm. The entire time, David complained, muttering to himself that he was tired and that he should have gotten more sleep the night before. He was barely polite to people who called. He did not talk to me at all. Housekeeping did not clean my room the entire time I waited in the front office. Although I understand that hotels operate under time constraints and they have to move quickly to clean the rooms for the next person, I think they could have extended my stay another 45 minutes so that I did not have to camp in the front office with David. Housekeeping didn't even enter the building I was staying in until after I had left. Rant done! David left little to be desired.

Right off the highway, decent sized parking lot. Enjoyed being there on a Sunday after everyone had gone home for the weekend. Had a nice view of the ocean. Room was pretty clean and the kitchenette was helpful for in room meals. Would visit again.
