The decor and atmosphere are sparse and simple, but that adds to the overall character. Large selection of traditional Chinese dishes. The owner that waits tables is very friendly and to the point. We tried the dumplings good!, fried shrimp good!, and pancake with scallions and veggies very good!. The “pancake” is served in a style that more closely resembles noodles in Western cooking. Prices are decent. We’d definitely stop back in sometime.
If you keep an open mind, this place will surprise you. My favourite is their dumplings, it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture which next time I would! I hope people will give this place a try!
Had Lunar New Year celebration here and the food was awesome and you can tell it was made with love! Tried 3 different dumplings, fried rice, noodles, tofu and their cucumber Chinese salad. Everything was homemade and super delicious. A must visit when in Saskatoon. The restaurant is pretty old and outdated but the quality of food and taste is where it's at and the lovely couple who owns this restaurant are the sweetest! Also, there are some loiterers in the area and there have been car break-ins so make sure you don't leave anything out in the open in your vehicle. Would definitely come here again! Vegetarian options: Fried rice is vegetarian. I think the noodle dish is too but ask to confirm. They also have a tofu curd and bok choy vegetarian dish and the texture of the tofu is very much like seitan texture - it's super yummy!!
The dumplings are way too oily and some dumplings are not even cooked thoroughly. The lamb pot is very mediocre as well... Buying premade handmade dumplings from good companies in Chinese markets would be much cheaper and taste better imo The owners seem quite friendly tho.
Went here because a co-worker recommended the dumplings. There was a definite language barrier but the food was delicious. My wife and I shared the mixed veggie fried dumplings, Tianjin-style steamed dumplings, Chinese haggis soup made with offal, and some sort of noodle dish which we're not sure if the server/owner changed on us because she pointed to a soup instead but we still got the noodles. Definitely recommend this restaurant for the most authentic and traditional Chinese food!
You want dumplings? Jin Jin is the place to go. We sat down for a meal for 10 and had one of the most authentic I assume and tasty Chinese meals I've had. This is not the place to go if you want lemon chicken or ginger beef. The decor and cleanliness of the place left much to be desired.
Update: Still great food! Still open for dine in and take out! Jin Jin's is the best mom and pop Chinese restaurant for home cooked food. It's run by a husband and wife who don't speak English very well, but they cook amazing food. Don't expect a nice ambiance or even matching dinnerware, but the food will make you forget about everything else. Recommend getting the "Jian Shao Mai".
Never judge a book by its cover. Sure; it’s not pretty on the outside... or inside... but whatever they’re cooking up in the kitchen is delicious. It’s authentic, it’s delicious, it’s amazing. The owners don’t know a lot of English so be prepared to do some pointing, but even if I got something totally different from what I ordered, I would be more than happy to eat it. The dumplings are insanely good, and so is everything else. It’s a hidden gem in Saskatoon. Support small, local businesses! Jin Jin is awesome!!
Best dumplings in Saskatoon hands down. We've been eating dumplings for years and have went everywhere. This place offers traditional Chinese dumplings.
Food here is great. We tried the pan fried lamb dumplings, the stir fried pancake with vegetables and the scallion pancakes. All of it was great. Service wasn't stellar, took a while for our order to be taken and even longer for our tea to be served. We had our dumplings before our tea! However the food is great and price is very reasonable.
