Story

It has been my dream, after many years as Signature Chef for Mac & Ray's Marina, and the Signature chef that opened Detroit landmarks such as Van Dyke Place and the Whitney Restaurant, to be able to recreate a gourmet dining experience that fits with today's busy lifestyles. The way I see it, you should be able to enjoy the taste of gourmet - at your convenience, not just on special occasions when time permits. J.Baldwin's Restaurant and To-Go is the result of that dream.

I chose this place based on the numerous great reviews it had and they definitely did not disappoint. Our server was really friendly and full of energy, the food was great and was a pretty good atmosphere with live music starting partway through our dinner too. In terms of the food, I definitely recommend getting the calamari as it was fantastic (also a dish they are known for). The portions here were quite large to so definitely expect to be filled and maybe even bring food home. I had the salmon stuffed with crab, served with green beans and a lobster risotto (it was super rich and much cheesier than I expected risotto), and we split the carrot cake for 4 as the dessert. And yes it was that big haha. Overall would definitely recommend this place as a nicer restaurant in the area.

The food and atmosphere were really good... I have the Atlantic halibut and it was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this place. The service was of course outstanding for such a nice restaurant. I will definitely go here again. Kinda on the pricey side but it is expected with the excellent food and remarkable service.

This place is phenomenal, from the service to the food! Definitely reccomend trying the bone in rib-eye or lamb chops as an entree, they're both mouth watering 🤤🤤 For starters, the buffalo cauliflower was amazing and you can't leave this place with out trying their Caesar salad, which is by far one of the best I've tried anywhere!! Ask for Robby if you can, he was awesome from the very beginning and until we walked out. Very kind and outgoing! We will be coming back really soon...

Really great place for a night out. Without the kids. The food was really good and the staff was awesome. They were very attentive and made sure you had full drinks and full plates. The calamari is truly amazing. Must try.

Never be back again. We use to come quite often then we took a break for about a year. We came back tonight and everything was bland and our dishes we loved so much were completely changed and portions have doubled, one of them was the duck know you get two dry leg thigh (tasted like rubber chicken breast) it use to be covered in an orange sauce and very moist now it is a little smear under it. The scallops use to come with lobster ravioli know it is heaping pile of risotto that wasn't even cooked, it had no flavor and it was on three different dishes at the table. The best part was the brussel sprouts. My husband ordered the Scallops, they cooked them in a pan that has been used several times and they were over cooked so they were rubber. The calamari was soggy and the breading was falling off. It use to be crisp and hold together. They tried to be nice by paying for some of our dessert. A whopping $17 out of $200. The only ones that liked there dinner was the kids. I think they have stretched their self thin with the new location.
