This is the worst humane society. Drove 3 hrs to pick up a kitten. Was placed on hold and told them when and where we are. Got there and just told no you can come get her tomorrow. Just no you can't have her. They didn't care about anything. I bet tomorrow she will be put down. F this place....

I've spent a great deal of time at HSCO. The staff is great. The animals are given a great deal of love during their stay. All these negative comments are totally unfounded.

Incredibly helpful and caring staff! I checked out the shelter in hopes to adopt a dog that would get along well with my huge pup at home. 
Although I did not find a good fit during the first visit, one staff member, Karah actually took the time to reach out to me later with potential matches. It is clear they really care about finding the perfect home for each animal and take the time to ensure the adoption will be a successful placement in the long run. Have to say I am amazed and appreciative of their dedication. It is inspiring. Thank you and please keep up the good work!!!

If people stopped losing their animals this place wouldn't be a kill shelter. Pretty pathetic how people get animals then lose them. Brought a dog in who i was hoping to get re homed. He wasn't adjusting well an they thought they were gonna have to put him down. So instead they allowed me to come get him at no charge. So maybe take care of your animals better when you adopt.

I'm a volunteer here at the shelter and we are not a high kill shelter. We care about our animals. Why we have empty dog kennels is because our dogs get adopted out so fast. Even pint bulls get adopted out so fast. Because people love our dogs. We are a nonprofit organization as will. We even get transfers in from California and taxes because of the hurricane that happened so they had to make room for the dogs that got left behind by there owns. We are not a high kill shelter.
