Hotel Alila

Average hotel. The owner or manager (don't know which one he is) was extremely friendly and helpful. Seems like one of those cheapie motels converted into a hotel. Pretty clean. No frills but I think if we had planned better (it was a last minute booking), we could have found something nicer for the same price.

Extremely disappointed - the people who manage this hotel have no business morals and only look to take advantage of short-term profit opportunities with no regard to doing the right thing. This review is not about the quality of a stay at this hotel but rather about the hotel’s business practices. I made a reservation by phone at this hotel on Dec 27 for a stay Dec 28-29 to go visit my brother in saint adolphe and provided a credit card to guarantee the room. At no point during this call was I informed that there was a “no cancellation” policy in effect. Immediately after booking the room, I called my brother to inform him that we had found a room and would be coming up to visit them the next day, but they told us their daughter was not feeling well so they would be returning to Montreal right away. I then immediately called the hotel back to cancel the reservation. This is when Jackie (the front desk manager) proceeded to serve me multiple excuses and bogus reasons as to why they really should charge us the full cost for both nights (over $250) BUT that instead he would “do us a favor and give us a huge discount” by charging us only an “administrative fee of $60” to cancel the room. I argued this was not right but quickly figured that none of what I was saying to him was being heard. He was determined to take advantage of the situation and there was little I could do or say to change his mind. And this is literally within 10 minutes of making the reservation via phone with him personally. What burns me the most about this is not the money itself, it’s the principle. This is a local, independent hotel that you simply would expect not to behave this way. There are no corporate policies or red tape that should prevent them from doing the right thing. I am a business owner myself. I understand the value of service, of always doing the right thing for your customers, and ultimately, that one’s reputation is everything. This hotel (in particular Jackie) does not appear to understand any of this. Quite the contrary, instead of doing the right thing, he chose to take advantage of a situation and charge this fee. Very short sighted because we come to Morin Heights and Saint Adolphe several times per year. I will NEVER book a room at this hotel nor will any members of our family and countless friends of ours. Very disappointing and DISHONEST.

Cute hotel gets in touch with nature Cheerful and helpful staff that made our experience an enjoyable one. The manager went out of his way to make our stay perfect and recommended some nearby restaurants. Comfortable and tidy room, very affordable price. The location was great, only a few minutes drive to Saint-Sauveur mountain. The IGA grocery supermarket and gas station were in front of hotel. The biking and hiking trails were just behind the property. This very cute hotel was set along a small river and the forest. What a wonderful touch with nature! Love it all!

Nice and clean hotel. Confortable bed. Quite fair for the price.

A little bit outdated interior but overall for the price it was better than expected, the room was spacious and for the price it's not bad. I don't think the breakfast was included or at least we weren't made aware of it. We were even allowed to stay past the check out hour for a low fee.
