Hongdae Korean Restaurant

Brought here by the high google review points. Ordered a soy garlic fried chicken. Chicken was nicely seasoned and rich in aroma and flavour. Meat was tender and juicy. I can say it’s the best fried chicken I had so far in coquitlam area. Only give a 4 star because I had it taken out. Skin of course couldn’t stay crispy when I got home 25 minutes later. So I couldn’t rate the crispness. But the strong aroma made my mouth watering all the way

Edit: We went back again to try their pork hock, it’s really great! 10/10 would try again! Old review: Tried their pork bone soup and their pork cutlet! I really liked the peanut sauce on the cutlet! Nice and sweet! Service was speedy and the staff was excellent!

The food is very tasty and big serving. So crispy and tender the chicken. They also have side dishes. The Cashier is very nice and helpful for recommending what food is good. Worth what you pay for.

It was a Friday fun with friends. They got a table for 4 ppl close to 7pm. We ordered some dishes and shared them. Service was great and friendly. Food was yummy.. pork hock and fried chicken were recommended by many. This wasn’t the 1st time I came.. last time I had a good experience too. You gotta go and try it! ^^

Recommendation of the fried chicken is the original kind with no sauce! The pork hock is spicy with a smoky under flavour. Worth trying’

I HAVE TRIED PORK HOCK AND PORK CUTLET. SPICY PORK HOCK : not that spicy as much in Korea, and not pork fishy. Tasty but I think it would be better if they use port front leg, which most Korean famous pork hock restaurant uses. PORK CUTLET : as a donkatsu lover, I can say it is way better than the price. There is a donkatsu restaurant near here, but compared by the another one, I would eat pork cutlet here. Moreover you can drink beer together in the restaurant x

I've lived in this area for years and can't believe it took me this long to discover this gem. The food is tasty, plentiful and perfect for the colder weather that we've been having. We always get their pork neckbone soup and original fried chicken as a standard, and then will pick another dish depending on the day. It's noticeably quiter in the afternoons vs the evenings, I hope their business will continue to pick up. I love their gamjatang neck bone soup because it's so yummy and nourishing. You can tell they don't skimp on the meat/bone because the collagen in the soup in the leftovers we take home is almost solid--so good for my skin, ha ha! The lady working there is always friendly, I don't know what others are talking about, and we're not Korean-we only speak English to her and have never been treated differently. Anyways that gamjatang and the chicken is bomb.com, we can never finish it but we order the large one for dinner for leftovers that we freeze because it's so HUGE.

I would've given 5 stars if the dish came with those lovely Korean side dishes as I expected, having that being said, the dish we had, grilled Jokbal was deee....elicious! Forgot to take pictures at the restaurant, but the leftover we took home last night is still very tasty

Not even worth 1 star. Officially done with this place and never ordering it again. Perhaps owner/chef changed? Anyways, Ordered large pork hock, 90% of it was fatty skin with pork hairs to the point where its not edible, and lettuce came with dirt, not worth $50+Recommended dishesHot Grilled Smoked Pork Hock

Had the soft tofu stew and fried chicken. All so good and our waitress was the sweetest! I loved the soup so much I ordered an extra one for takeout.
