Amazing building, lovely room and sea view. Great to wander around. Interesting history. Staff very helpful and friendly. Parking was a bit stressful but worth it, local person helped me work it out. To be truthful some internal areas need a little TLC. Good value for money, breakfast was very nice. Dinner was quite acceptable. Would like to go back. Nearby activities: Town and beach close ny to explore and well worth taking time to look around
Rooms are small, beds are big, clean sheets, no sea view even if the room was on the sea side. We booked 2 rooms for us and kids, and they gave us different folders. The reception queue for registration was taking almost one hour of waiting. There are plenty of dogs inside! The place per total looks good, old but nice Rooms: Rooms are medium-sized and clean, but the view is missing. Even if I booked a room with sea view, it was a wall in the front of my window. I booked 2 rooms and one was on the 7th floor, the other on the 5th floor
Food totally discussing , restaurant was col which meant food also went cold quickly. Room not to bad only there one night thankfully. Needs doing up and lot of money spent doing it up . No charging point for module in room.Rooms: 2/5
All was pretty average. view was great from the room looking out to sea and harbour. Hotel was very tired and really needed some refreshing. No service to rooms unless you asked. Staff in restaurant were really friendly may lobby was quite amazing just a shame rest of hotel decor wasn't as goodRooms: 2/5
We had a room with no windows on the lowest ground of the hotel level -3 so could hear the pipes or boiler throughout the day and night. The bath, sink and toilet were blocked. More staff would be good at the reception during peak times. The location is nice as it's directly next to the beach.Rooms: 1/5
Room was poorly decorated, every piece of wallpaper was coming away from the wall somewhere in its length, hot tap would not tum off without force, rusty pipe in the bathroom. My duvet was very poor quality and thin. The staff are very friendly and polite, and the food and service was excellent. The hotel itself needs a lot of money spent to bring it up to scratch.
Its such a fantastic old building in great location but time and size means it hard to keep in perfect condition. It's OK as a cheap and cheerful base to use. We only paid £35pp for 1 night for 5 adults. Rooms basic but OK. Inside main part of hotel is old and grand. Didn't eat or drink here so can't comment. Unfortunately it's a large old building outside is amazbut covered in seagulls inside rooms clean but very basic or ours at least was but functional.
Our room was lovely apart from our lock on the door was coming off screws were loose didn't affect the door from locking or staying shut. One of the floor staff gave me and my daughter the creeps as he looked my 12yr old daughter up and down more than once he also, did the same to a lady in front and well he was speaking to you he watched your chest as he did so without making it not obvious. Rooms: Clean and tidy had no problems apart from finding our room big place different access points, door lock was coming away from the frame but didn't prevent door locking or staying closed Nearby activities: Beach is in front of the hotel if you go down the tram or steps next to the hotel shops are less than a 5 min was lots of coffee shops nearby
An absolute bargain at £39 a night for a double room, dog friendly, plenty of entertainment, including a little cinema, live music and a choice of 2 bars. The reception and bar staff were very friendly and super helpful, would definitely stay here again if in the area. Just don't expect it Ritz, it's £39 a night! It's an interesting building to walk around too, just a shame it's looking a little tired. Rooms: I only stayed in the smallest and cheapest of rooms they had but it was clean, tidy and had everything needed, TV, Kettle with tea, coffee and milks etc, Iron, ironing board, bathrooms had soaps and fresh towels. Noteworthy details: It's a beautiful old building but as with most of these old Victorian buildings it's looking a little tired now, personally I think it's a bit of a shame. They sell history books of the hotel for £3, worth a read.
The rooms were clean beds comfy I slept very well and woke refreshed. However the windows had not been cleaned on the outside for I don't know how long, you couldn't Hardly see out of them. In the middle of the hotel there was a flat roof which looked like it was a dumping ground with a couple of dead birds which let the hotel down. All the plants in the hanging baskets were dead. The breakfast was about average. Come on Britannia hotels get your act together with a little more effort,
