Small, clean restaurant with simple decor. We went in between sitting between lunch and dinner so it was quiet. Service quick. Decent size portions and flavourful. Definitely home comfort soup. Enjoyed the different type of noodles in the soup. The Chef Seafood Noodle Soup was delicious and had a decent amount of ingredients. Definitely recommend if you in the area especially since the weather is getting colder.
Cute little place, staff super friendly! I had the hot and sour soup and my wife had the spicy intestine was so delicious! The noodles where perfectly cooked, the flavors where awesome! I love pepper corn numbness feeling! Highly recommend checking it out! FYI cash only.Food: 5/5
The main reason for this post is the service that I have received at this location. I came here based on the promise of great fish noodles by Google Reviews. I was not disappointed by the quantity and quality of the food. Even though the fish had a faint earthy taste, the price was very low for what you are getting. Now onto the fun part. My first visit here was a few months ago, the lady at the cash register spoke condescendingly and was very unfriendly. She requested that I pay first, then I could be served. I was already seated at a table assigned to me by her and food has arrived when more customers came in and I was asked to move to another table because I was by myself and didn’t need as much space. That was fine, I assumed that she was having a bad day, finished my food and left. Today, on my way home, I decided to give this place another chance. Everything went well, I was seated, finished my food and went over to the cash register to pay. The noodles that I have ordered were $14.18; due to the fact that it’s cash only, I was rummaging through my wallet to find change. I gave the lady $15 and was in the process of trying to find some more coins for the tip; she counted the money and said, “where’s the tip? This is not even 10%”. I had the intention of letting her keep the change and add a bit more on top that, hearing this comment, I stopped what I was doing and looked at her. She repeated herself and demanded me to give her a larger tip. To which I replied: is a tip mandatory? I give tips for the quality of service that I am getting. Then she said: if you tip for service, you should just stay home and make your own noodles. You know what? That is a great idea! Regardless of where I eat noodles in the future, I will definitely not be coming back here again. To the owner: maybe consider increasing the prices and pay your employees a bit more instead of having them drive customers away by demanding for larger tips with a horrible attitude.
Their flavourful fish broth goes well with the five grains noodles. The spicy broth can entice your sense and tastes even better. It would be better if they can offer a larger portion. Beware that the broth seems less than usual when you take away as their container is pretty small.Recommended dishesFish Broth
The broth is rich and flavourful, perfect amount of spice in the hot and sour version. The noodles are perfectly bouncy and just soft enough. Ate the entire bowl without feeling too heavy. Fantastic.Food: 5/5
My friend and I came here to give the food a try because of the recommendation of an Instagram food blogger and the good reputation on Google Review. We ordered 2 bowls of noodles, and they tasted okay with reasonable price at total of $27.50 before tax . As this place is cash only and considering the little service we received, we just give the lady $30, which is only 25cents less than a 10% tip of the value of what we ordered $27.5 x 1.1 = $30.25. The lady then stopped us and said that $30 was not even 10%. We then gave her an additional $1 just because we tried to avoid conflicts. However, the lady was not satisfied, she told us that $31 was still not enough for a 10% tip and asked if we don't know how to do math when we were confused. Anyways, according to her, we "have to" give her a 10% tip on the "total with tax included", which is $28.88x1.1=$31.77. The lady let us go after we paid a total of $31.6x by giving all the changes my friend had in his wallet. Being forced to give a certain amount of tips was a very AWFUL experience especially when I believed that THEY DO NOT DESERVE THE AMOUNT OF TIPS. The lady did minimum things of her job duties giving menus, taking orders, serving foods, taking away the empty bowls. No greetings and smiles at all. She said less than 5 sentences What do we want to order; They don't have the tomato soup, you're welcome, and if she can take away the empty bowls to us. I think the tip we originally had was already generous. Most importantly, I honestly NOT SURE WHY WE HAVE TO TIP ON THE TAXES AS WELL. If you are an employee and don't get paid enough, ask your employer to pay you more. If you are an employer and believe that customer didn't give your employees enough tips, raise your price ad improve your service. Tips are not mandatory with your poor quality of service.
Contrary to all the comments about the server being rude, my server came and closed the curtains for me when it was very sunny outside and I was sweating a lot from eating the noodles. We had to cancel an order from the kitchen and they were very nice about it too. So I gladly left 20% tip. The food here is so good, the soup is so rich and it resembles japanese ramen soup base with very silky, slurrable rice noodles. Its less fatty because its made with fish bones as well, and it taste a lot homey and definitely very comforting to the soul. If you dont like fish tho, there isn’t much on the menu for you to order besides their rice bowls. All their noodle soups have fish in it. Although the presentation is not the best, the flavor profile definitely kills it. Ordered the tofu and egg as well. Very well marinated inside and out ate too fast didn’t take pic. I came here because my parents got take out here last night and I had some of their leftovers. It was so good I had to come the next day. Its better than tam jai if you know which hk chain store Im talking about. Glad to finally find a place to get my rice noodles cravings fixed. Will come here everyday if I dont get tired of it.
The original fish soup noodles was amazing. Delicious fish broth, bouncy noodles, good portion of fish, and with a bit of veggies. The rice bowl was just okay.
The grains fish noodles is a bit different from the typical rice noodle we have. Their soup base is a bomb the fish noodle broth is so rich, it combines with pork soup. You can probably tell from its milky colour. The hint of sour and spicy adds more taste to it I will definitely go back and try other items!!!
Very tasty, good bite to the noodles, with a decent amount of fish and preserved veggies and a good balance of spice #10. Good portion and quality for the price. Service was strange - people were friendly, but service itself was lacking at the same time. Cash only, no splitting bills. The only time I was offered a tea refill was after I asked for the bill, where they just refilled with hot water.
