Went on Saturday for lunch, had to wait in line for about 10 mins. The food was alright. Except my order of a pork and shrimp with chives rice noodle roll dish didn't have the mixed filling of pork and shrimp. It had 2 rice noodle rolls of pork with no shrimp and 1 rice noodle roll of just shrimp and chives. So they skimped on the order. The service was quite poor as no one came to refill tea and pick up our dirty and empty dishes. Once we were just finished eating, the staff immediately gave us the bill. I didn't feel that they did great in serving us so I didn't give them many tips. One of servers got our payment, checked our payment and immediately complained to another one who was cleaning our table that we didn't pay enough tips!!! I understand that Saturday lunch time is quite busy but I didn't expect to have such rude staff and my food being economized for cost.
Nice rice roll and congee place. We ordered the sliced pork, liver and kidney congee, shrimp and king mushroom and truffle paste rice noodle roll, beef brisket rice roll and fried bread stick. The congee is on the more liquid consistency, the rice rolls where fresh and nice and thin, the fried bread stick was crispy on the outside and bready on the inside. Good bready nice as in absorbes the congee when you dip. Service was fast and had a very in and out feel. Go in and eat the out you go...quick bite kind of feel.
Highly recommend the King mushroom truffle paste rice crepes. Rich truffle flavour with every bite. The congee is also very rich and tasty here, the preserved egg and pork one was awesome. They also have nice Chinese sweet soups like almond and egg as well as sesame paste soup. Also tried the egg rice crepe and the Chinese donut rice crepe and both were fresh and tasty. The only drawback is that the rice crepes are quite small in portion for what you pay… wish the portions were bigger.
The mixed pork in the mixed pork congee is slightly over-cooked. The rice rolls taste good. However I am very disappointed on the photos on the menu are soooooo different from the actual dishes - I understand the photos for advertising might exaggerate the abundance on the ingredients however photos on the menu should reasonably close to the actual dishes. The rice wrap on the dough stick rice noodle roll is too thick.
The restaurant prides to themselve as the specialist in steamed rice rolls and congee, but in my opinion, its a bit overblown. Congee is normal, not much surprise. Rice roll is not good as the ingredient easily came off the rice skin. It is a messy to eat. I haven't tried at their shop in Kwong Chow, but I assumed it maybe better there. The ox tongue pastry is not good too. The only thing satisfied me, is the Hong Kong style milk tea. Shop is small. Space between tables is very tight. No comfortable after the covid. The display of the certificate and awards downgrade the restaurant. Parking is not easy as well. Definitely they have a lot of rooms to improve. I gave them 2 stars. Parking: Hard to find parking. Very tight to move around the parking lot.
In Hongcouver, mouthwatering food items such as congee, chowmien, chang-fen rice rolls are all our faves and we would crave them so often! There is no way we can resist these fresh, savoury, steamy, fluffy, smooth rice rolls made to order everyday. Creamy rice porridge, aka congee, is also our go-to and just divine for us. We never forget to wash everything down with their famous milk Ceylon tea — a fragrant and sweet way to end the meal. Other items to note is their deep fried shrimp sprinrolls and we can honestly eat two dozen of these just one meal. If you do not mind pork innards they make rice rolls and congee of this ingredient too. Their Richmond location is easy to get to and parking is ample in front of the store. Their hours of operation is friendly as well 8am-10pm so if you have a late night craving of some good Canton food — consider this casual dining but delicious food place! IG: @kumofoodlist
You can expect delicious and freshly made rice rolls, congee, and lots of Asian comfort foods at Yin Ji. I really enjoyed their truffle rice rolls. It’s fluffy, smooth and it’s warms my soul. I always order a HK milk tea to go with my meals here. I highly recommend when you’re in Richmond
I recently stumbled upon some mouth-watering pictures of a new rice noodle roll restaurant on Instagram and being a huge fan of this dish, I decided to visit the place. I arrived at 11:30 am and was pleasantly surprised to see that the place was already packed with diners. Although the restaurant is not big in size, it is well lit and bright, but there is a lack of decoration. We ordered the King Mushroom Truffles Rice Noodle Roll, La Wan Style Assorted Congee, and Braised Beef Briskets Noodles. The Congee was good and I was impressed with its presentation, which included ingredients such as BBQ pork, fish slices, squid, pig skin, and peanuts. The crunchy deep-fried peanuts stood out as the star of the dish. The Truffle and King Mushroom Rice Noodle Roll was a creative and delicious take on the traditional dish. The beef briskets were incredibly flavorful and tender, however, but the portion size was small compared to the price. Overall, it was a delightful experience and I am looking forward to trying something new on my next visit.
Was ok clean. Service was ok. Food was ok. Rather expensive. We ordered 3 Rice Noodle Roll related dishes and a bowl of Congee to share, our total came to about $50 including tips. $50 for 2 people having brunch is a tad pricy... Minced beef congee... pretty thick consistency Beef Pork & Chive Rice Noodle Roll was good, the pork and beef were very soft. The braised beef brisket on Rice noodle roll was saucy, but the beef brisket was tougher than liked. The Chinese donut wrapped in Rice Noodle roll was pretty good, more on the crunchy side.
Tried once when I was in Toronto and glad they open another in Richmond! Great quality food and rice noodle roll is not as thin compared to the ones from the Master Rice Roll. We ordered a Chinese donut rice roll and a beef rice roll. The Chinese donut tasted fresh and crispy, but they are quite small portions. We also ordered a pig liver congee and fried bun mantou. The portion of the pig liver congee is quite large, enough to share for two. I'm surprised it actually have quite a bit of amount of pig livers in the congee. Although the congee itself tasted a bit blend, they do provide white peppers, salt, sugar, and chili oils on the side for you to add if needed. Overall the food is great and the price is considered reasonable. As for the service, the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, some staff may only stay at the counters, the staffs always walked around and in great manners. The orders come very fast, even when the restaurant is very busy, we didn't wait long until our orders were fully served. Although sometimes it might be a bit crowded with fully packed restaurant, but it's worth to dine in with freshly served rice rolls and congee. Highly recommended.
