Golden Inn Restaurant

After 6 months in Nanaimo, I thought I would never find any traditional Chinese food... But thanks to the recommendation of our friend local foodie we found a winner at Golden Inn! We had the 3 course Peking duck $53.95, seafood hotpot $20.95, and a Chow Kui Tew $16.95. For the Peking duck: it comes with the crispy skin and wrappers, lettuce wrap, and duck soup. It all tasted very authentic! The skin was crispy I wish there was more!, the filling for the lettuce wraps was perfect, and the soup was so flavorful! This was definitely a pleasant surprise to find in Nanaimo The seafood hotpot was good as well, filled with scallops, prawns, squid, tofu and veggies. A little saucy but fresh! The Chow Kui Tew was great, with lots of "wok hay" smokey wok flavors but could've used a bit more salt. Flavors were all there though! Overall we were very satisfied with our meal, the quality, and service! Although portions are a bit smaller, we'll definitely come back to try their live seafood and other specialty dishes

Just coming out from the Ferry and looking for a place for lunch. We thought of getting the buffet but it was a little bit late for it, our server suggested a dinner combination, which was yummy and very cheap$12.95 for the two of us. Great decor and ambiance. The service was remarkable, very friendly

We ordered dinner and it took them three hours to deliver. We called several times and the owner apologized profusely and offered a discount next time. We called today to place an order and were told they would not deliver to our address because of what happened last time. We are located 15 minutes away from them. Never going back there again.

Not only the waitresses but also the owner was very nice and friendly. The table and washroom were perfectly clean. The food was also really good. Make sure to bring more than 1 person with you to share the good food!

Buffet not offered. Service was good. Spring rolls were good. The rest of the food was terrible. Special chow mein was a pale, mushy dish with a thin tasteless sauce. The beef and broccoli was covered with the same tasteless sauce. The chicken hot pot was literally a pot of mushy onions. All of the dishes contained very little meat. Easily the worst Chinese food I've eaten, definitely not going back.

Most authentic decor in Nanaimo makes the standard fair on the menu worth while. But you gotta dine in to appreciate it. Live a little!

So impressed. We had take out this evening, the phone service was fantastic while placing our order. We were able to order an item that wasn’t necessarily on the menu and they made it for us with no hesitation and no additional costs. Our food was ready when they said it would be ready and was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious. My new go to for sure.

Golden Inn is the BEST, Fresh Delicious Food, Would never Get Delivery from anywhere in Nanaimo. And Clare, who took our order, And the Young Lad who Delivered, So Professional and Friendly. Great People Excellent Food

The staff are friendly and helpful. It was very quiet when I was there, just a few groups. The servings are very generous.
