Avoid - the mechanics are not trustworthy. I went here to get my car safetied and was told I needed all new brakes due to rusted rotors and 3mm pads. Less than 15k before the safety this car had a full break job at the dealer. I didnt believe them so easy to avoid the nearly $700 hard sell trying to get me to fully replace the brakes with them..."best price...blah blah". I took the car to the dealer immediately after and all pads are measuring 7-9mm and the rotors had some surface rust. Called them out on their lie and demanded a refund - they refused and didn't want to even acknowledge their fraudulent claim about the wear on the pads other than to say admit its not 3mm and they would address with the mechanic...who is "like a brother" to the store manager - what a joke. Reporting to MTO, BBB and consumer affairs Ontario.

went here for a safety inspection, was absolutely ridiculous. they honestly tried to pull a fast one on me to get me to fix stuff there. I pretended i didn't know much about cars. before i went to ontario for the safety inspection, i had my own mechanic do a full inspection, 180 point. I knew exactly top to bottom what was wrong with my car. then these guys at garys come out and show me a list triple as long. other than stupidity like windshield wipers (which worked fine) and a small rust hole (nope, not a safety issue) the biggest issue was they lied and said i needed a new exhaust. a week before my mechanic said my exhaust was 100% fine, and these guys at gary said it was broken, full of holes, and falling off.. absolute garbage.. AVOID

I've been going here for a couple years. Trustworthy, reliable, fair prices on parts, excellent customer service, and a usually quick service time. I am pretty knowledgeable about service requirements for my vehicle but they are good with telling me things I should do, with explanations why and how long I can probably hold off on any needed repairs. I've been to a few other places to get work done but since my first experience here I always come back when I don't have the skills to do it myself. They are straight forward and professional with everything they have done to my vehicle with no BS or crooked tactics attached.

My experience at Gary's Automotive on Merivale Road was astonishing. I've never been to a garage where I was treated so well. I was expecting to be turned away due to not having an appointment and it was later in the day. Instead I was greeted with a friendly smile and they took my car in the shop right away. I felt like I had a "VIP" status. While they inspected my car for the noise it was making in the front, the person at the counter was very polite and friendly. After they inspected my car and reported to me what they had found, they also brought some other issues to my attention. Not knowing too much about auto mechanics, they explained everything the car needed in a detailed fashion which made complete sense to me. They even showed me the problems with the car so I could see with my own eyes what was going on. The counter guy then went over the whole quote with me including stuff recommended from the manufacturer and at no time did I feel forced to get everything done. They listed everything from safety concerns and maintenance items which I was happy to know about. I was so happy with the service I had received previously, that I went for all the repairs and maintenance items. My car runs like a dream and Gary's Automotive has a regular customer now. I highly recommend bringing your vehicle there because the service is extraordinary!!

Paid for them to drain the freon out of my car so I could fix a part. They didn't drain it fully and the freon went everywhere when I opened up the system. I called them about it and they said well it's done with a machine so it's not our fault. ANY other shop would be better than these guys.
