Food Basics

You can find most typical food items you would need at this supermarket. The fruits and vegetables that are closest to the entrance are pretty fresh and worth buying. There is no bakery/deli here as everything is imported. The prices are reasonable and you can place a 10% raincheck if something is out of stock. You can also price match/get full refund for unfreshness. If you live close by and have the patience, all the items in the store will be on sale every few months. It is located close to Don Mills, Steeles and 404.

Reasonably decent grocery store. I wish their was more Canadian foods. It's usually pretty clean and well organized. The apples are always bruised to death, though, because the locals toss them around looking for non-bruised ones, never seeming to get that they're the one's bruising the fruit. I've seen one woman stand and toss the apples from one bin to the next for ten minutes! I buy fruit that bruises easily in better areas of Toronto now. Isn't it funny what puts you off at a store and what you'll do for apples that haven't been bashed around by Chinese women?

Compared to other locations, this one is much cleaner. Ample parking with helpful staff. Line ups can get crazy at times but the staff are usually great at opening up more cash out lanes to accomodate. You can get most staple items here but don't expect a fresh bakery, deli or butcher here.

I am worried about the condition of this stores employee resrictions. Thought the canned food was good everything else was of a lower than acceptable uality including the management.

This is actually a pretty nice store compared to other food basics. They are usually clean and the fruit and vegetables are fresh. They carry some higher quality products which is nice, and the employees are generally happy to chat and make suggestions which I love.
