Extortion!!! We rent the apartment for 2 years and kept the entire suite in good condition. We mopped and cleaned the place before we leave. We did't make any excessive damage or permenant stain, and the dook lock was loose since we moved in. We filed a couple report but they didn't come to fix because of the COVID. However, after we moved out for 2 weeks, they sent us an email with 1500CAD CLEANING FEE. Without any explanation or breakdown of it. Please come to this place if you like to be threatened after moving out, wait for 10 min of elevator every day, garbage smell lobby, bad management team and broken front door.

Hard to keep a monumental set of towers up to par the past 17 months during covid and all the rules that went with it . Management are Human like the rest of us . I sure wouldn't want to run this building during an outbreak. And consider the fact that they did not once raise the rent the entire 17 months . I just got a rent increase that's not due for 3 months and a whole 12 bucks total increase monthly . In these times I'm not complaining. Be grateful you have a place to call home

Coachroach problem over 2 year never solved. Only one elevator works more than few months and will continue like that. Whole building smells like dirty. Management removed all garbage bins so you even don't have bins to throw your small items, you have to carry them to your apartment or go to the garbage chute. Usually have thief issues at indoor parking. Poor managementoffice but friendly cleaning and maintenance employees. OVERALL DONT RECOMMEND IT

Cleaning staff are super kind and courteous. Office staff are rude and rushed. Maintenance and cleaning are really above and beyond. A/C and heating are updated. Roughly 30CAD/month. Amneties are well kept. Beautiful area. Family and pet friendly. During 5 years we've had little to no issue with out unit, even during upgrades.The roach problem was real. They spray inside the walls 1x per week now. Reports I've made of unruly or dirty tenants were taken seriously. We had our first child here, no issue.

No cockroaches, no sign of any bedbugs in the 6 months we have been here! The office staff are very friendly and helpful, any thing we have needed tended to was done in a timely manner. We love it here a lot. It is extremely quiet and has an unbelievable view of the experimental farm and downtown.

1140 and 1150 are both infested with cockroaches and beetles. Management is extremely disorganized and ineffectual. The pool is closed at least half the time, in-floor heating is not sufficient, and the buildings are in a state of disrepair. The rental office do not use computers. Staff are friendly when you want to rent a unit, but as soon as you move in, they have no interest in helping you with your problems. The stink from the garbage room in the summer is horrible and makes the whole lobby smell disgusting. Building security is very lax, management post notices about not letting strangers in, and then they prop open all the doors so that anyone can enter the building. Consider living elsewhere.

This building is decent, not the greatest quality, but definitely livable, the buildings are in a great location, with a great community and all of the tennents I've met have been great... HOWEVER the reason you should never rent here is the administrative staff. They will do everything to get you to sign and give them money, but once you've become a tennent do not expect any assistance. The staff are rude and often insulting to tennent, and that is if you can get a hold of them. The building is constantly under repairs and according to the contractors I've spoken with the building only ever pays for small solutions rathing than fixing problems as a whole. Anytime something goes wrong with the building: Electricity, Internet, water, heat, elevators, etc. they try to make you feel as though it's your own fault. If you ever ask them for repairs they will do whatever they can to stick you with the bill for it. This could be a great building if the people who ran it weren't terrible.

The building management keeps on finding ways to charge you extra without any notice. Our rent is prepaid, they automatically withdraw more money each month . And when you ask for an explanation from the people working in the property management office, they all have different explanations and some way of rationalizing. They themselves don't know why the Homestead head office is putting on some extra charges. Very irritating and unprofessional - they need better training. As a tenant, you need to be on top of your game, because they can so easily make new rules on the spot and you're left lost.

I chose to give this place one star because I couldn't give zero. The management is inconsiderate and garbage. They do not know how to speak to anybody with any type of respect. The building has cockroaches. If you have any maintenance issues in your apartment they have absolutely nothing in place if supers don't answer their phones. It is outdated and gross. The bathroom has an odd smell at different times of day coming in from the vent. It smells like cigarettes everywhere. Besides the fact that the location is somewhat convenient, there is absolutely no reason to live here. Not to mention it is outdated and there are crackheads everywhere that leave objects in the doorway to keep the doors open to enter the building. I hate to bash any company but this is a really terrible place and since I have had to deal with this place I'm hoping whoever reads this stays FAR AWAY. It is not worth it.

Update: Over the year of living here, my review has changed from a 5-start to a 1-start. The management has become extremely unorganized and inconsiderate. After handing in our 60 day notice, we were told that they would try their best to provide at least 24 hour notice before showing the apartment. Of course, I understand that there are odd instances where this is not possible, but even when they had scheduled appointments they would call me to tell me they are "on their way up". Loud construction is frequent with inadequate notice for excessive noise. This is troublesome to me because I often work night shifts and sleep during the day. Understanding that construction is inevitable, a proper notice would be appreciated so that I could plan to sleep elsewhere. Original Review: Great location. Easy to catch a bus downtown, the Ottawa hospital civic, and Algonquin college. Staff are available every day of the week and respond to work orders quickly. Management is quite unorganized and building is outdated. General building repairs take a long time to complete or don't get completed at all. Overall: There are many residents who love living here and have lived here for many years. My experience, however, was disappointing. That being said, I will not recommend homestead to any friends or family.
