Throughout our mother’s recent stay, the team at Fellburn went above and beyond to ensure her comfort and well-being, with their kindness and positivity. Witnessing such genuine care and attention to detail was incredibly reassuring for our family. The staff were very invested in supporting patients to regain their mobility, hope and confidence, and ensuring they were well supported when they eventually went home.
My mother was a resident at the PATH unit of Fellburn Care Centre for 6 weeks following a transfer from Burnaby Hospital. Her stay there was a very positive experience for both her and our family. Everyone from the healthcare staff to the meal service members were incredibly friendly. This made my mother’s stay much easier as she was greeted daily by people who cared for her and held pleasant conversations with her.nnAs of November 2023, Fellburn has been under the guidance of a new manager who cares about his staff and the well being of the residences. He has excellent communication and PR skills and did the best he could for my mother. The staff are pleased to be working with him which has been reflected by many positive changes at Fellburn. This was demonstrated in the care given to the residents.nnAmanda, who is the home health liaison, and Colleen were top-notch! Their communication skills and caring attitude made our family feel validated and supported. Amanda has the difficult job of delivering news to the residents and their families which they don’t necessarily want to receive. Our loved ones are often in a state of change in their daily living abilities which requires adjustments to be made for either long term care or home modifications. Amanda is extremely knowledgeable and does her job with excellence.nnI wish my mother was able to continue to stay at Fellburn as the quality of care she received was superb. Unfortunately, she had to be moved to a permanent long term care home.
There is no phone for use by the patience in the rehab area. The coordinator is too busy to speak with me. I'd like to ask why she's taking more pills than usual, why she's left in bed? All these things were happening at Burnaby Hospital. . .but not here! It's suppose to help patience get mobile, but not here! Leave them in the bed!
My father was transferred here after he fell and broke his hip. At first the staff seemed helpful, but over time it appeared that they were neglectful. They didn't even bother to dress my father most days and just left him in a hospital gown. When he was dying they did not call his doctor or give him palliative care and let him suffer for days. The final cap was within a few hours after my father passed I received a phone call asking when the body would be picked up because of summertime and it would start to smell and disturb the other residents. This is between the funeral home and the Care center so I don't know why they would call me especially when I was out of town and asked me something so horrible and give me nightmares for the rest of my life.
I just wanted to thank the staff in the ALC ward at Fellburn care center for the amazing care l recieved while l was there...l was there for 2 months while l recovered from a broken leg and a broken shoulder...between the managers, nurses, and care aids my stay was amazing...they are a wonderful group of people that take pride in their work and care for their patients...nl want to personallynManagers/nurses:nColleennAmandanWennNursesnZuhairnAlisanYimnJosephinanDianhnManjeetnRizanNatashanKrystalnNickynSharonnCare AidsnRosannanLucynArlenenVilmanLawrencenDexternSamnCorenanRosenRosanNavnMandinRemannSuzannanGinanPhysio/Rehab:nSandynAndeasnJamesnMichellenHouse keepingnMelynAll of these wonderful people were instrumental in my recovery...if l missed anyone l am truly sorry...l have grown to love and respect you all...can't wait to visit
