El Gato Cantina

Painfully slow service. Had to wait with my party at a podium for 30 minutes(no exaggeration) to get seated. No waitresses available for lunch. Bartender was running the entire restaurant and possibly cooking the food, too. Cocktails were ok I guess. Ordered steak tacos. Barely any steak at all in them and was disappointed because they were pricey. Taste wasn't bad just mediocre and skimpy portion. Asked for guacamole as a side and received a portion smaller than a quarter of a Dixie cup. Was starved after finishing my wimpy tacos, so I grabbed a burger and fries to go On Tap after we left. Probably won't be back.

Really disappointing. Menu sounded great, but service and food were both really lacking. Took over an hour to get our food when we were one of only five tables sat when we'd ordered, just after 5. Carnitas were chewy, most everything flavorless. Bar drink special wasn't even drinkable. Just not a good place to eat.

Great chips and guacamole. Had the mole pollo, which was very good but could have used a little more sauce, and the fish tacos (absolutely delicious). Rice was as good as any your get at any Mexican taco stand in SoCal, but the beans were a little bland.

Never eating there again. Not enough help food was 30 minutes late due to something no one explained to us until I asked why nothing was coming out.... Worst service ever. I didn't even want to give this place a start, not to mention the food was burnt

Can you say tequila? The drink list is awesome..the Essex El Gato is soooo much better than downtown Burlington... Great now I want to go.....lol
