Nice servers. Terrible food. The bowl had a nasty ranch guac sauce. The tamale was drenched in disgusting red sauce. The fish taco was like a frozen fillet with disgusting sauce. Not coming back.

Best mexicain restaurant in town. We tried every other mexicain restaurant and this one was by the far the best one. The service was amazing and the food !!!! 10/10 I would recommend.

Had a girls night out while visiting town. You get chips and salsa to snack on when you first get there and the waiter was quick to get us waters, and take our order when we were ready and kept checkin in on us to make sure we were satisfied and to see if we needed anything. My chicken quesadilla was HUGE with chicken, cheese, peppers, sour cream and guacamole. I had to bring half of it home for a midnight snack as it was so thick and filling I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. All my other friends enjoyed their meals too. I love the paintings and pictures. The Frida kahlo painting in the bathroom is awesome. I hadn't been here in years as I dont live in the area anymore but I would definitely come again.

Friendly service, food was okay. Waited 15mins before anyone came over with menus. Then waited an hour after we ordered for our food. Another party came in after us and got their food and finished it and left before we got served. Rice was cold, and a burrito someone in my party ordered was cold. Asked for the check, waited another 30 minutes for it. Friendly service, but very poor service.

Got to restaurant at 5 for a party of six. Hostess sat us and said we needed to be out for a 6:45. We said no problem as we needed to be out by 6:25. Waitress didn’t come to us until 5:30. When she finally did we stated we needed to be out by 6:15. She said “well you are a walk-in right?” She took our order and delivered our drinks. At 6:15 half our party had to leave. At 6:30 we asked to have our food boxes to go. She said that will take longer. When she delivered our food she told us that we could have made a reservation. Food was bagged at 6:45. We don’t understand. If you didn’t have room for us, why seat us. And if walk-ins aren’t as appreciated as reservations, then make that your policy. But we were very friendly and understanding even when we had limited and very slow service.

Great food and atmosphere! Only complaint was I had to wait to get a water refill. Honestly though, great spot right off the "walking area" of Church St.Food: 5/5

Absolutely delicious! We were only in Burlington for the day, and so glad we ate here for my birthday dinner! Staff were friendly and attentive, margarita was good, and the food was great! Queso was thick, creamy, and delicious. Chimichanga was also delicious - and huge! I would definitely recommend El Gato for yummy Mexican food and drinks.

Loved El Gato. I must say this restaurant was better than we expected. We were served salsa and chips when we sat down. We had exceptional margaritas followed by a big bowl of soup de Pollo full of shredded chicken. It was 17 degrees out and we were cold. We were full, but managed 2 tacos, shrimp and grilled fish, very good. Next time will get fajitas that looked amazing sizzling by. I got tacos, and they weren't terrible, but they weren't great and they were pretty overpriced for what they were. The flavor in the food was lacking, but kind of understandable given that this is Vermont.Food: 1/5

Staff are super slow. Waited 30 mins for a margarita a cocktail that takes one minute to make. Food even longer. Not worth it. Can’t use being short staff as an excuse any more. Every place is under staffed.
