A literal hole in the wall...until you walk in and up the stairs. This place is cozy and fun, with great Mexican decor and feel. I loved the veggie tacos except for the Cauliflower one and the pillar of hotsauces is amazing. Loved the place, would definitely go again!
Small portions. Above average prices. I do like the idea of the games at the tables. It also has a good atmosphere. We showed up hungry and left hungry after a $70 bill
Well..::::when we went in to Maracaz, we were really happy that there is finally a good Mexican restaurant in Burlington. Well, this ain't it. The decor is very nice, and so is the service. The Nachos and the salsa was ok. The guacamole was bad. If a Mexican restaurant can't get these three right, we'll...you are not a Mexican restaurant. The rest of the food was awful. What's with all this cabbage????? Seriously, all the tacos came loaded with tons of cabbage, and this awful sauce. That's all you tasted. Nope, this is not Mexican food.
Why go basic when you can go tasty! We live in Oakville and Maracaz is worth the drive to Burlington for our taco-fix. David is very pleasant and charming, and helps with the amazing atmosphere of fun and playful. We usually bring our own games with us, but they have a wide selection of games for 2+ people. The limited selection of tacos makes it easy to order and very fast to your table. Pork, Beef, Chicken and Fish are on the menu, but they also have vegetarian options that are equally, if not tastier! We don't drink alcohol much, but they have a wide range of tequilas at the bar, including our favorite, Clas Azul.
We came here looking for a chill but fun Saturday night dining vibe. We knew it was a low maintenance no fuss spot but man, what an awful experience. We started with margaritas "on the rocks" to avoid the sugar filled slush drinks but the drinks came with bar lime and slush.... After ordering chips and guacamole, the server informed us that they were out of guacamole as she placed the chips on our table. It's a Mexican restaurant, avocados are your STAR ingredient! They also informed us they couldn't do pitchers of beer after we ordered one... the timing of this news was very very poor. We then overheard the servers talking about a table that gave them a crummy tip, which must have been heard by about 6-8 different dinner guests. We witnessed a few complaints from other guests while waiting for our tacos. There was no atmosphere to speak of on a Saturday night and I had to ask them to turn the music on. The service was also very poor. Sadly we will not be back after such a lousy experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This is a bit of a weird restaurant. No VISA. No Debit. Cash only. Tables and chairs look like they came from a garage sale. You have to climb steep stairs to the 2nd floor. They don't have a phone ... if you call to make reservations it calls downstairs and someone has to go upstairs to see. But all that doesn't matter because the service is great and friendly, their simple menu of tacos and nachos are excellent. Their margaritas on the rocks are fantastic. They have a large collection of hot sauces to spice your own taco. Great vibe and atmosphere in this little restaurant ... that if it wasn't for the second floor and its cool temperature ... you would think you were on a beach in Mexico or Jamaica. We'll be back.
Best taco place EVER. ! Three tacos for $12 and they ALL tasted DIFFERENT and they were ALL delicious!!! They even have vegan options that were AMAZING! The plethora of hot sauces make the visit even more fun, spicy, and exciting ! The decor is comfy and hip, and the tables made of refurbished skids, makes one think, "hey, why didn't I do this?!" I am a server and have high expectations of service and this place, though relaxed, was ON POINT! Didn't miss a beat! Highly recommend!!!!!!!
I was really looking forward to eating here bc I love Mexican cuisine, but my experience was horrible. If you didn't go up to the bar to ask for your drinks and menu you would never get served. The tacos were were okay and the price was good. It was just the service was horrible. Finally, a new girl showed up for her shift and the service was slightly better. Unfortunately, we will never come back.
This is a fun place to visit with a group or even just for a date. We've been a few times with a bigger group. We always get friendly and prompt service and the food is excellent. It is a smaller place and the stairs are steep so keep that in mind! They have board games, pinatas, sombreros and a few TVs to keep you entertained. We recommend any taco on the menu and the margaritas/daiquiries are great. Lots of hot sauces available.
Atmosphere, at its best!!!! great selection of delicious tacos, latino music in the background and walls decorated in scrap wood. You'd think you wandered in to a village restaurant in Mexico. Good selection of tequilas and lots board games to make for a fun, fun experience!
