This is our Baby, Willow. She was a rescue from Washington State. We gave her a Forever Home November, 2016 when she was about 7 weeks old. She was a funny little girl and OH SO LOVING! I wanted a lap-dog and I sure got one. Up until May 27, she'd been a healthy, happy girl. Never sick. She had her shots yearly and that's it. Dr Mann's staff were good but I was never quite comfortable with him as he is very hard to understand and seems gruff. On that Friday, Willow went to Dr. Mann to have her annual vaccines and her teeth cleaned. For this, she needed to be sedated. I arranged for this but my Husband, John, had to take her as I would be away. When my Husband picked her up that afternoon, she was lethargic and still sleepy. As I'd taken her last year to get her shots they did have to give her a shot to calm her as she was quite worked up, I reassured him that this was normal and she'd bounce back by the next day. That evening I called to see how she was and she was still "not herself". John said all he could do was cuddle her. She didn't have a lot of strength. Again, I reassured him, thinking Willow would be fine in the morning, as she had been last year. Our Baby Girl woke John crying at 1am May 28. He took her out of her kennel and she was limp. He took her to bed with him and held her. Then her legs went straight out and her breathing changed....more space between each breathe until she stopped breathing. Our little girl, Willow, was gone. We are both still in shock. How could this happen? I guess we'll never know. It hurts so much. We are gutted. John took Willow to Dr. Mann that morning at 9:15am. Dr. Mann apologized for what had happened and said that Willow was "fine" when she left". Ok. I can accept that given that she had been sedated and was very groggy. His explanation was that Willow may have had a heart attack. Again, that may be but SHE WAS A HEALTHY 5.5 year old dog! The point of this review is to say that although I am not confident with what transpired during her "visit", nor with Dr. Mann's bedside manner, there hasn't been ONE WORD from him or his staff SINCE THEY TOOK HER BODY. No follow-up... No call. No email. No condolence card. NOTHING. I am an Entrepreneur and if this had been one of my clients suffering the loss of a beloved family member, as Willow was to mine, I would never have ignored my clients pain. Clients need to feel like "people" and not "dollar signs". At the very least, a follow-up call. Very disappointed in Dr Mann and his clinic. I will never recommend him and should we ever consider another pup not likely as Willow is a hard act to follow, he will not get his hands on her/him ever. Rosa Livingstone
I took my cat to this clinic a while back, but forgot to post a review. He was in severe pain, hiding and growling, had no clue what was wrong. He was able to be seen quickly and in the evening. The doctor let us know he was blocked urinary, was very kind about our decisions for treatments, and very transparent about prices and treatment options. Prices were very reasonable and the doctor is very kind. He stayed overnight and was completely healed by the next day and back to his normal self. My dad used to regularly buy food from here and the doctor always greeted him and asked about my cat - he is a kind and good person who cares about your pet. The only reason I don't come her anymore is because I now work at a different vet clinic, but always recommend this one to clients when we are fully booked. Another thing I'll add, from my experience working at a vet clinic, is not to trust all low reviews and take them with a grain of salt - most of the time the client is frustrated due to prices or situations but the medical advice, treatments and diagnostics are necessary to be recommended and communicated to the client. Anyways, thank you to this clinic and the team!
Honest, direct, and caring. He provides the service you, as a pet owner, feels is right, and offers his pragmatic expertise to aid in your decision making. I have nothing but gratitude for the guidance Dr. Mann offered us. I appreciate his direct feedback, and close relationship with his clients. I value his qualities and staff when considering a clinic.
DO NOT GO HERE! Dr. Maan only looks at the animals for 0.2 seconds before he somehow magically diagnoses them and gives owners a bunch of "options" and straight up gives insane prices and then suggests vaccines. OK? How can you give vaccines to an animal when you don't even know what's wrong with the animal. He's rude to clients and employees. Super hard to understand what he says because he mumbles his words, tells you one thing but expects you to somehow know ten things. He asks clients to help him restrain their pets, like excuse me how's that professional???? Most owners don't want to see their pets in pain or the animal struggles so that would cause conflict if the owner were to see their pets treatment as they are not accustomed to the vet environment. Super unprofessional and unorganized. He also cheaps out on equipment and a lot of the stuff that is necessary for an animal hospital so if he were to reject an animals surgery it is because he either doesn't know how to do it or he lacks the equipment because it's "too expensive" to buy the equipment, he doesn't do "complicated" surgeries and if he were he would call his son to do it. As for prescriptions that's supposed to be his job but he makes an assistant who worked there for less than a day do it with no instructions whatsoever. There's an animal hospital right down the street I'd suggest you go there as they will properly diagnose and examine your pet.
Highly recommend you stay far away from this place. He didn’t even touch my cat before recommending an X-ray and blood tests. He dismissed what I said was wrong with her and me that her symptoms were from other things, that she showed no signs of, and said he needed to see the results from the tests. The x-ray came back as a kidney stone, and he said the blood and urine test was needed to figure out what kind of stone. But looking up there is only one stone that gets stuck in the kidney, a calcium stone. Which he gave no medicine to help get rid of. He said that he gave her IV fluid and something to stop her vomit, and that she should be fine. Recommended food for her, and told me to force feed her if she didn’t eat, so she would start. Looking this up, it could traumatize your cat to never wanna eat. Call him to ask for something to make her wanna eat, he gave me something with no packaging or name or real instructions. And when I asked, what if she doesn’t eat? And he’s said not to worry about that because it hasn’t happened yet. This man is super dismissive, doesn’t want to listen, and just wants to rinse you of your money. Nothing came from the blood test, when he told me he’d have more answer and has given me nothing. Even the other vets just down the street, says they have nothing but problems and complaints coming from Edmonds St Animal hospital. I recommend going anywhere else, there’s a veterinarian right beside the place call South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital. Which gave me more help and advise in the 10mins I was there, and for free. If you care for you pets, don’t get to Edmonds St Animal Hospital.
dr mann always gives the most resonable prices to his patients . my dog has bad diarrhea on and off for weeks . it got so serious last night . i have to take him to the vet today .honestlyit is very costly to live a life if you have a pet/ kids in vancouver . However dr mann's price is so reasonable also come with the great result . Thank you so much dr mann
Dr. Mann is one of the best vets in Vancouver, he is knowledgeable and examines every pet before recommending any exams or treatment! The last few years i’ve been to a lot of vets in multiple countries and Dr. Mann is one i would totally come back to!
My experience here has been great. After my cat did some vomiting, I brought him in for the first time and he and his vet assistant has been patient. They were considerate of my cat and took all measures to check and determined that he has a fever. After a couple of IV fluids, he's now healthier and energetic and I'm thankful for that.
Our dog had diarrhea for a couple of days, and due to our existing vet is fully booked, we booked an appointment this morning with Dr. Mann. When we took our dog there, first thing Dr. Mann did was to give us a price list of the things he thought we should choose to do like we are a vet...?!. Without even touching our dog, temperature or anything, he wanted us to choose examination that would cost a few hundred to thousand dollars. We are 13-year dog owners, and we've had our other dog having way worse diarrhea, and we were never just given a price list. Dr. Mann in the end refused to give us antibiotics only without going through anesthesia and IV. Therefore, we left. $45 well spent discovering a local vet that is not suitable for us. We will NEVER GO BACK to this place as we cannot trust a vet that puts price list BEFORE the dog.
SO grateful we found Dr. Maan. He’s such an incredible vet who truly cares about everyone. He takes his time in understanding and addressing our concerns, to ensure both my pup and I leave the practice feeling satisfied. Thank you for your compassion and incredible services, Dr. Maan. Here’s to many more years of excellent Vet Care with you!
