We received exceptional care and service at Canada West during a critical time for our 1-year-old cat diagnosed with IMHA. She required immediate life-saving treatment and stayed in their ICU for 7 days. The staff provided frequent updates, which we greatly appreciated. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had access to such a facility when it was most needed. Dealing with the emotional toll of a sick pet can be overwhelming, and we learned from past experience the significant financial strain it can cause. Having pet insurance, made all the difference. Without it, we would have faced a $13,000 bill. She really received the best care, and we are so grateful for Canada West!
Just lost the sweetest dog i ever owned. Had the privilege of loving her for 15 yrs. My little Lily nThe staff here helped me through this day . We had to bring our boy Iggy there for an emergency. It was before the long weekend, and he was extremely sick.nAll the staff from front reception and critical care to the neurology team were friendly, warm, professional, and sensitive.nOur boy was there for 4 days before he could get an MRI again long weekend, and they called us 2 times a day to give us updates.nUnfortunately, he didn't make it due to a mass they found on his brainstem.nWe got to say goodbye and meet some of the team supporting him. They were amazing and took such good care of our boy.nThe room where we said goodbye was comfortable, clean, and private.nIt was a very difficult time for us. I truly felt they did everything they could to help us understand what was happening and to help Iggy get better.nnNothing but love and respect for the people at Canada West .
Very lovely and kind doctors and staffs. Medical fees were expensive, around ~$4500 total, but only cause I didn't have pet insurance so guessing the other reviews likely did not have either. I could not pay in full so the doctor allowed me to pay it in parts every visit. Sorry I can't remember the names of the doctors. But everyone there took care of my cat Summer 15.8 y/o with a lot of love and care. The veterinary clinic felt like a second home, it was comfortable and made me feel like I could tell them any concerns without judgement. Unfortunately Summer has passed away 9/23/23, but the staff were very supportive and helpful during the process.. It's very hard on them when they have to tell the news. I hope the doctors take well care of themselves.. It's awesome they are 24hrs though. They have air purifiers on at all times, anxiety blankets, water, hand sanitizers, cleaning wipes, clean washrooms.. they also have a quiet room for when you want to have some time with your pet. I definitely recommend Canada West Animal Hospital
While we didn’t have a bad experience with Canada West, we also cannot say we had a pleasant one. It’s understandable to look at these reviews and see glowing comments and happy pet parents. But I feel that comes from the fact that our loved ones are healthy and in many cases have been given a new outlook on life, so we are happy but this does not reflect on the service, communication or even compassion given by the clinic.nnAfter the surgery we received little to no follow up from the clinic or the surgeon. It required several phone calls and emails on our behalf.nnWe also found the receptionists to be unfriendly and in most cases just viewed us as a transaction. We paid 70% of the cost upon dropping our dog off. 2 days later we return excited and happy to pick up our dog after having major surgery and we were met with the POS payment machine, literally before the receptionist said hello.nnUs: “Hi! We are here to pick up our dog”nReceptionist: looks at screen to see price of surgery, picks up payment machine and hands it to us. Not even a hello!nnWe don’t live in Vancouver, so after surgery we asked if we could have Bandages changed at our local clinic to save some travel. We still wanted follow up from Canada west but felt as soon as we gave the other clinic the money to change the bandages Canada West dropped us and all follow up.nnSurgery went well, our dog is better and for that we thank them and the team but I don’t recommend them and I suggest if you do take your loved one there be prepared to be viewed as a transactions above all else.nnYou can also find much more affordable clinics by travelling out of the Vancouver area. We view the premiere pricing to be based on location Vancouver and not quality of care or communication.
