Durham Medical is a family run business which is locally owned and operated and has been serving Durham Region for over 25 years. Our strength is our experienced and knowledgeable staff, for the service that they provide our clients. You will find a warm and friendly environment with staff interested in helping you.
They will take the time to ask questions and understand your challenges so that they can help you find the right product for your needs. Most recently Durham Medical was the recipient of the “Business Excellence Award 2007” by the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce. The best way to describe my experience with this place was LOUSY. The place is like a Walmart of medical supplies (NOT A COMPLIMENT) - buzzing activity. I needed to get my mother's shower transfer chair fixed - she is unable to bathe without it. I took the chair there because that's where my father got it. The woman at the immediate counter asked my if I was returning a chair rental - not, "Can I help you?" When I explained that I needed the chair fixed she asked me what brand it was, and, that they don't sell that brand - I had to explain that it was purchased there - THEIR STICKER IS STILL ON IT. As she disappeared to look for the needed part, another person there asked me if I was there to return a rental. It took her a while to come back to say they didn't have the necessary part. Offered no suggestions on what to do - NOT THE LEAST BIT HELPFUL. I left there disgusted with the place. Happy ending: I went to MOTION SPECIALTIES (149 King St. W), where my mom got her walker, and they were able to recycle parts from another chair and fix it for me. Even more incredible, they did it for FREE! Hopefully, Karma works on both ends of this story....

Bought a high-priced second-hand wheelchair privately for my husband ... didn't realize that one size DOESN'T fit all! Took it to Durham Medical to see if some adjustments could be made to make it more comfortable for him. Unfortunately the needed adjustments were not possible so Durham Medical traded us for one of their 'loaners' which fit him perfectly and was the same brand AT NO CHARGE! Needless to say, when we have to replace this wheelchair as my husband's disease progresses, we'll be heading straight back to Durham Medical!
