Downtown Medical Clinic

Recommended. As primarily a walk-in type of clinic, I've received very good and thoughtful service from multiple doctors here. With the exception of one in particular who did not have the basic knowledge and ability to diagnose a concussion. The other doctors made up for it and provided quality care and spent time during my visits. Front-end staff have been pretty solid as well. Even though we moved from downtown I may still go out of my way to use this clinic.

Dr. Khuram is the best doctor I've found in Edmonton so far. I've been with different doctors since I've move here in Edmonton and she's the only one who listens and understood my concerns. The front desk are very attentive and flexible as well. Time wise, it gets busy but if you have patience. Its all good

I love Dr. Khuram, but this clinic does not respect your time. I'm used to waiting an extra 10 or 15 minutes, that's fine. Now you're lucky if you get seen anywhere close to your appointment time. The clinic is managed very poorly. I booked an appointment for 3:30pm and it is now 4:55pm. Multiple people have gone ahead of me. I asked at 4:15pm when I would get in. I was assured "very soon". I got in at 5:00pm and was in and out in 2 minutes for a prescription refill. Stupid. I will be looking for a new clinic that respects my time and knows how to manage walk-ins and appointments. Avoid this place.

This place REALLY helped me out today. The Shoppers pharmacy wouldn't accept my prescription from BC I just moved here, and told me I needed another prescription, and I needed the medicine ASAP. I panicked, then tried going into this clinic as a walk-in patient, not expecting much help. I was amazed that they walked me in right away, and the doctor was thorough, attentive, and incredibly helpful. The receptionist was great, too. A really great experience that really improved what could've been a horrible situation. Thank you so much!

Hands down the best clinic I've been to. The woman at the front desk and the doctor I saw are both amazing. The woman at the front knows all the patients by name and was exceptionally kind. I did have to wait a while but it wasn't the fault of anyone on staff there and they were upfront about it when I arrived. I was given a time estimate and the number of people in front of me. Despite what some other reviews say I didn't feel lied to or mislead at all by the wait time. I also didn't mind waiting because it's 28 degrees out and the place has great A/C. I'm just really happy to have found a clinic I can go to and feel comfortable at.

There's a reason why they have posters in the rooms about "proper care and respect" it's a warning to run out of there, the doctors are awful and trying to relay that to anyone within the office is pointless, the doctors will yell at you for asking for help/treatment and refuse to even listen, the front staff are more than happy to read poor reviews and complaints from other patients about the behaviour of front end staff or lack of care received aloud for the entire waiting room to hear while acting as though they aren't part of the problem. Don't waste your time with an appointment or walking in or even trying to complain they simply don't care and don't want to do anything to change either.

Receptionist very rude. When I first walked in I already walked in to the doctor telling the receptionist he wasn't going to take anyone else but I was quoted an hour wait maybe that is when the next doctor would be in? and was in a lot of pain on a Sunday so decided to stay. The demeanor of the receptionists was kind of weird, they were kind of laughing under their breath when I was checking in, not sure why or if it was related to something else. Only two of us in the waiting room myself and another person, the other person waited nearly two hours, I did nearly an hour, someone walked in and said they were in a rush so they got bumped ahead of us due the clinic having an appointment cancellation. I went to ask why the lady who has been waiting for two hours doesn't get prioritized over this lady that just walked in. Instead of chatting about it because maybe I misunderstood something, I got told they were going to call 911 on me for asking because they don't need to deal with my abuse? Very abrupt and did not expect that. Other person who waited for two hours left. I was about to leave but the doctor who previously said he wouldn't see anyone agreed to start taking people? Doctor was nice enough but I won't be back.

I have a bad review for Dr Kuganathan and the receptionist. First of all waiting an hour when you have a booked appointment is ridiculous. Then seeing the doctor who is in a rush to cover as many patients as she can , resulting in inaccuracies on her work and then refusing to correct her mistakes is disappointing. The receptionist cut me off and without my permission she put me on hold to avoid answering my questions. So rude as usual. If they don’t enjoy doing their job they shouldn’t be there. Always sulky and unwelcoming! If my regular doctor is not available I will never bother to be seen at that clinic. However, Dr Khurram is the best!

Confusing system. Made a 2 pm appointment, for any doctor available, showed up 5 minutes before the appointment time. Three other people with appointments walked in after me, well past 2 O’clock, and these people get to the doctor before me. One middle aged white guy walks in without any appointment, asking to see a doctor immediately because he has a dentist appointment at 3pm. He gets shown in, and walks out in 30 min, yet I’m still just sitting in the waiting area 50 min past my appointment time. I used to have no issue coming here as walk in, seeing a doctor in a reasonable wait time, now I can’t even see a doctor with an appointment. It’s downtown, there are plenty of other clinics. This will be the last time I come to this one.

Expect to be waiting a long time 30 mins - 1 hour to see a doctor even if you booked an appointment. This is my 3rd time at this clinic and the wait time has been consistent. They don’t value your time.
