Our purpose is to acquire, preserve, protect and restore natural resources while providing opportunities to connect to nature.

Story

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns and manages more than 60 forest preserves in nearly 26,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year, more than 4 million visitors enjoy the trails and preserves that offer a variety of scenic views and leisure activities. Programs at five centers serve over 80,000 participants each year.

Mission

The mission of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is to acquire and hold lands for the purpose of preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of its citizens.

One of my favorite DuPage Forest Preserves! From the sights of the changing seasons overlooking Rice Lake, to the wildflowers on the forested nature trail, to the Great Heron nests west of Naperville Road along the trail connecting it to the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve, Danada has it all--plus horses for those so inclined. I run, hike, or bicycle there at least once a week and cross-country ski on the groomed trails in the Winter.
The last 2 bands, Gizzae and Funkadesi, to close out Veggie Fest on Sunday, August 11th, hit hard and I loved every moment. Thanks 2024 organizers for a beautiful weekend. See you all in 2025.
Really clean, crushed gravel walking, biking, riding paths. Bring good walking shoes because it has some good hills around the lake.nMostly this is an area for people to ride their horses but is open for walking and biking too, beware the horse droppings.nTake care of your own garbage, hard to find cans.nExtra parking is in the equestrian center.
Amazing forest preserve that is built by an American entrepreneur from Chocago who named this farm after his own first name Dan and his wife’s first name Ada DanadannThere is a horse race track, horse gate, beautiful garden, an amazing building and a few stables in this park. Thank younInteresting place for family and kids or solo hikers
Lovely well-kept grounds. The horses are the best find them either in pastures or in the barn. Always a few people that work there or nearby to answer any questions about the horses.
