Great camping experience! It was easy to make the reservation online and the price for the camping site was cheap only $30 for one night. The camp site was spacious, had two tables and a campfire. It also had a lot of privacy, although not all sites can provide that. It fits two large tents and two cars. What I love about this place is that you have easy access to washrooms, showers and community areas. In addition, the view is breathtaking!!!! Behind my tent was the lake, and wow! Only 20 minutes away is the Grotto, and the view there is absolutely amazing too! This was an incredible experience, and I look forward to come back next year and stay at least two nights!
We enjoyed camping at Cyprus lake. Everyone seemed to follow the quiet hours. The trailer sites were nice, but offered not a ton of privacy, but better than other places we've been. The little beach was very nice. Just in general, very enjoyable trip. The sunsets were beautiful. The staff were nice. I had some issues that unfortunately could not be resolved as I had hoped, however they were as accommodating as possible and everything worked out in the end
I camped on Halloween weekend and practically had the place to myself. Gorgeous campground with cedars, firs, birches, and oaks. Shower facilities are great, but for some reason the entrances are not illuminated at night. Be careful. The tables/benches are at shin level and can’t be seen on a dark night.
Will come back next season for sure!
Plusses: great geography, excellent trails, very well maintained park. Many sites are bordered by big, healthy cedars. Cyprus Lake is great for swimming with littles, as it stays shallow and sandy far out. Negatives: Booking system is so broken. I was online the minute it opened and only managed to book one night at each of three different sites. Turns out we weren’t the only ones - every morning, families were shuffling around. We actually traded sites with another family one night. Also, the bear rules are strict bordering on the ridiculous. I grew up with bears in my back garden, and we never locked up our clothes or tea towels at night. If you’re located beside the washrooms, be prepared for smells at certain times of day. Finally, showers at the Hub were cold, and both times, they stopped working after a few presses of the button not sure if this was coincidence or a water-saving feature.
Stayed in the Tamarac section. Great forest with lots of things to do that comes free with your pass, Singing Sands, interpretive center, the Grotto. There is an activity center the now with basketball, volleyball and soccer nets. The bathrooms were really clean.
One of the best campgrounds in ontario. It is clean and well maintained. The Cyprus lake is beautiful and great for paddle boarding. Hiking to the Grotto is highly recommended. Also checking out Tobermory which is 20 minutes drive is highly recommended.
Love the place.calm.we only there for 1 night, but we enjoy our stay.we did a little bit of hike and stayed on the boardwalk just wait till the sunset...and it was amazing.
The Campground and region are excellent for a vacation. Excellent trails accessible from within the campground. The trail around the lake seemed seldom used and was like you were completely removed from all people. We hiked a bit of the Bruce Trail along the water. It requires proper footwear as it is quite rugged. Excellent views from all trails. Enough on trails. We were in a tent. Sites all have good drainage, generally flat, 2 tables in good condition, fire area with grill. Privacy varies but better than many provincial park campgrounds. Washrooms and showers all seemed to be recently upgraded. The new Hub offers everything you would want and more than the usual comfort stations. Finally. There is so much to do in the area but that would be another review.
Registration is not very helpful. I travelled around in Northern Ontario, this park is the last stop of my trip. All other parks I camped are all provincial parks, registrations in provincial parks are all very helpful, they all willing to show me the site map and highlight the route for me, but not for this national park. I was out of ferry in the dark, the registration just give me a map and just tell me where to turn to the camping ground, that’s it. There is no clearly directions for site number in the camping ground. Particularly for my site 155, I could not find any directions for it. Other than that, I was asking to read and sign park rules and a sheet of paper with a list of things if I want to purchase. The font is so small, it is difficult to see. I didn’t bring my reading glasses with me, I didn’t expect this. Can this be done online when I reserve the site? Why let people line up waste their time? Please improve your service.
