I recently had a deeply frustrating and unpleasant experience dealing with the Bangladeshi Consulate in Toronto. As a Bangladeshi citizen living in Canada, I was seeking clarification on my wife’s birth certificate application. After waiting on the phone for over 30 minutes, I was finally connected to a woman who was not only rude but also completely dismissive of my concerns.nnHer attitude was arrogant, and she showed no empathy or willingness to assist. When I explained that I had emailed the consulate with my questions, she bluntly stated that they don’t respond to emails and instructed me to contact them via WhatsApp—completely undermining the purpose of having an email address listed on the official website.nnShe was in a rush to get me off the phone and didn’t listen carefully to my questions. Instead, she made condescending comments and brushed off my concerns without any attempt to understand or help. It was clear that she lacked both professionalism and basic courtesy. I’m appalled that such individuals are representing my country at the consulate, showing no respect or understanding for the people they are supposed to serve.nnIt’s deeply shameful and disheartening to witness such behavior from employees in a consular office. This experience has made me question how these individuals even got hired, as they seem to lack both education and a fundamental understanding of customer service. I would highly recommend the consulate reevaluate the attitude and professionalism of their staff. Until then, I can’t trust them to provide the services I need.nnThis is not acceptable, and I sincerely hope that no one else has to experience this level of disrespect.
I received horrible service from this place. I applied for the reissue of my passport more than five months ago. Still, now, there’s no update. I call them, but they don't answer 99% of the time. I emailed them multiple times, but no one replied. I needed my passport for an urgent matter, but there’s no indication of when I will get it. My countless visits to their office went in vain. There in one guy in particular who has no manners. He’s indicating I probably “have criminal records in Bangladesh, which is why I'm not getting the passport.” I can't believe the Bangladesh consulate provides this kind of trash service. The way he spoke to me today is absolutely disgraceful. He even told me to withdraw my passport from the Toronto office and to go to Ottawa or elsewhere. He acts as though he is the busiest person in the world and owns this place. I wanted to speak with the manager, but he refused to let me. But then I spoke with another person who said I could talk to someone and raise my concern about this, but I will have to wait for a long time even though I have been waiting there since 10 am, now it’s 1 :30 pm. I’m sitting in the office, helpless and clueless about what to do next, I will never forget the trauma I got from this place. Never.
I absolutely loved my experience here. I submitted my passport for NVR last Thursday. My appointment was at 2:45. I was done by 2:55 and out the door. The person who gave the service was cordial and professional. I received an email to collect my passport this Tuesday, any time between 2 to 4 pm. I went there today at 2 and was out by 2:15 pm.nnIf I had to complain, I'll talk about the queue management process in front of the counters. There is none. People just stand haphazardly around the room.nnAnd where passports are supposed to be collected, there should be a sign to drop slip somewhere overhead and visible from anywhere in the room. I heard that that's what I'm supposed to do and so I did it. If there was any instruction, I didn't see it.
Dealing with this consulate requires endless patience. You’re told the wait time is 15 minutes, but I ended up waiting 2 hours and 34 minutes to get through. Even when the automated system says, “Your call is first in line and will be answered by the next representative,” don’t believe it—there’s likely no one actually available.nnIt feels like they expect you to wait indefinitely, hoping you’ll eventually give up.nnIt’s worth remembering that a consulate represents its country, and the experience here reflects directly on the image and reputation of that nation. I sincerely hope they take this into account and improve their service.
Farah at counter 3 went above and beyond to ensure quality service. Happy to see someone like her working there in such stressful environment. She brings a positive vibe to the place. Keep up the good work!
