My wife and I discovered a sweet slice of heaven while we were exploring Rue Bernard in Outremont named, Boulangerie Cheskie. This small bakery was full of customers patiently waiting to be served by the friendly staff behind the counter. There was a huge variety of baked goods and pastries to choose from, but our biggest problem was trying not to buy everything in the store because it all looked so delicious. We finally settled on some eye-catching Cheese Muffins and a decadent Chocolate Babka. These delicacies were absolutely scrumptious and we will definitely be returning for some more heavenly delights.
A little bakery filled with wonderful goodies for a very reasonable price! I loved the cheese crown and the apple cake, but found rugelahs to be a bit too sweet even though I've got such a sweet tooth!. Still, I'd love to go back to try other items! The servers were not friendly or helpful - they looked rather bored/tired. Could it be that I annoyed them because I obviously didn't fit in + wanted to ask questions? I wonder.
The chocolate covered cheesecake was 10/10 for us. We haven’t had time to try the rest, but we bought 3 mini cheesecakes, 2 large cookies, a big loaf of brown bread and a large chocolate cone filled with whipped cream $23 very reasonable imho
Sure, you might feel your wallet flinch a little, but consider it the modest toll for crossing into pastry paradise. Cheskie’s isn’t just a bakery—it’s a sweet little institution tucked into one of Montreal’s most charming neighborhoods.nnStep inside, and you’re greeted by the warm, yeasty perfume of freshly baked wonders stacked high behind glass. The selection alone could tempt the most resolute minimalist to walk out with a paper bag stuffed to bursting.nnYes, it’s a bit on the pricey side—but when every bite tastes like the golden standard of quality, it feels like money well spent. Whether you’re after a perfectly braided challah or a slice of their legendary babka, Cheskie’s makes it clear: excellence comes at a small, delicious premium.
I visited this morning and had to leave a review. The quality of food was amazing. This was the first time I have tried chocolate babka and was blown away. It was rich, chocolatey, sweet. I honestly want to head back up there before I leave Montreal to bring some back home to Toronto.nI will return someday. This was on my list of places to visit in Montreal and it definitely did not disappoint.
