An iconic bagel shop in Montreal that’s open 24/7.nnWith places like this, the tricky part is timing. You never quite know when the freshest batch will hit. I stopped in the early morning on a weekday around 6:30am, hoping to see a full display, but the counter was completely empty. They only had a few bagels left in the back, so I grabbed a poppy seed, an everything, and a sesame.nnTo be honest, all the bagels looked fairly basic. It was my first time trying Montreal-style bagels, and they turned out to be smaller, denser, and sweeter than the New York–style I’m used to. Not the soft, pillowy kind, but not dry either. Just a nice, tight chew. Given their size, they felt better suited for a rip and dip than for a sandwich. I still picked up a small pack of lox to pair with the everything bagel. The salmon was good, but the dough’s natural sweetness made it play better with flavored cream cheese.nnNotes: Cash only
It’s the real deal. Authentic hand made Montreal bagels.nnRecommended for sure.nnThat said, I live in Vancouver and actually prefer our Siegels bagels in kits. More flavour. Chewy. Little more sweet.
A must-visit in Montreal! Fairmount Bagel truly lives up to its legendary reputation. The bagels are freshly baked, chewy on the inside with the perfect crisp on the outside especially delicious when they’re still warm. I loved the sesame and poppy seed ones the most, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any flavour. The staff was friendly, service was quick despite the line, and the smell inside the shop is just amazing. A perfect spot to grab some authentic Montreal bagels to-go. Highly recommended!
Really nice bagels!!!nI really love bagels and their bagels impressed me!nStrongly different from the one I have eaten in Japan and Macau.nnThey re harder than I thought but I like them!!nThey re chewy and strongly flavored. Having cream cheese dressing, included strawberry, pineapple, blueberry, etc. for choosing.nnI went there twice during my trip, and have ordered all dressed bagel with cream cheese and salmon, and blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese.nnThe staff are so nice and friendly. And can speak both English and French!nThey have no dining space and only accept cash and Canadian debit cards.
A definite must-try when in Montreal! These are truly some of the best bagels around, with plenty of options to choose from. You’ll want to sample and taste everything. Commuting here isn’t too difficult, and I’ll definitely be coming back soon!
