A beloved Montreal institution since 1971, Pâtisserie Afroditi masterfully blends Greek and French pastry traditions, offering an irresistible taste of the Mediterranean. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly baked pastries, a spotless and well-stocked display, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The bakery’s attention to detail is evident not only in the quality of its desserts but also in the overall experience—from the friendly service to the charming, old-world feel of the shop.nnOn our visit, we indulged in a selection of treats, including their cheesecake and a variety of individual cakes, each one as delicious as the next. Every bite showcased the bakery’s dedication to quality ingredients and time-honored recipes. Their renowned Greek specialties—baklava, melomakarona, and kourambie—lived up to their reputation, boasting authentic flavors, perfect textures, and just the right amount of sweetness. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Greek desserts or trying them for the first time, Afroditi’s offerings are sure to impress.nnWhat sets Afroditi apart is its ability to deliver both nostalgia and discovery in every bite. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and craftsmanship behind each pastry. With a rich history and a well-earned reputation, it’s no surprise that this bakery has remained a staple in the city for over five decades.
One of the most delicious ice cream cake that I ever had. Also, there are many varieties of pastry that I should try each time I visit Montreal.nNice and welcoming staff.nI really recommend it for sweet tooth people
The Good:n- Variety of sweet and savory baked goodsn- Authentic Greek desserts options along with some Greek delicaciesn- Cheaper pricesnnThe Not So Good:n- The strawberry shortcake cake was dry and over baked and didn’t taste freshn- The frosting tasted artificial and left am undesirable buttery layer in your mouthn- Super over sweet and lacked finesse. I tried the coffee/chocolate cake, almond cake, and the orange honey biscuits and they were all like thatnnI really hope this place improves considering its history and the potential it has
This bakery is an absolute must-visit! It’s one of my all-time favorite Greek bakeries—everything is consistently fresh, flavorful, and crafted with care. You can truly taste the quality in every bite.nnMy only suggestion would be to consider adding Frappe to the menu—it would be the perfect complement to your offerings and make this spot a true one-stop shop for satisfying any sweet craving.
I have been going to Afroditi for over 25 years I think. One of my favourite strawberry shortcake. Most of their cakes are amazing. At times the older ladies that works there aren’t that “friendly”. The last time I was there, the worker was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find parking spots anywhere.
