Charlie Don't Surf

Charlie Don't Surf in White Rock is my favorite Tap & Grill to go to on Marine Drive. It has a fun decorated interior and amazing views looking onto Boundary Bay. Great drinks, tasty food, reasonable prices, and I have always had great service. The guy that runs the place even takes the time to visit with us customers to make sure all is good. This tap house has been my go to spot for several years. I make Charlie my meet up spot when I just want to relax, enjoy the day and night chatting, laughing and tasting cold drinks. We have been here a few times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, great service and the view from the patio. This is why yesterday’s experience was so disappointing! We arrived for a late lunch and given the beautiful weather and that it was St. Patrick’s Day, we were prepared to wait for a table on the patio. We were told that it could be 15 to 30 minuets, but they took our name and suggested walking along the beach and coming back. As we left we noticed a table was clearing out and that they would need time to prepare it for either us or the next group on their “list”. We decided to walk for only five minuets and return. We arrived as another group entered and the same server we met with greeted both of us, but started to seat the other group and gave them our table on the patio. We were then told that we would be waiting 30 minuets before another table became available and said “sorry for the mistake”! They offered no other solution, not even a drink at the bar while we wait or to go back to the group who were given a table on the patio without having to wait! This experience will definitely turn us off from ever returning to this establishment!

Took the motorcycle out for a ride to get away from the fog...and so glad we did and ended up at Charlie's for lunch. We were seated on the patio with enough room to keep our helmets...thank you! Our server was great and the food was delicious! (I had the halibut burger...which was a generous portion of halibut....so very tasty! 😋 and R enjoyed the chicken club too!). The view was gorgeous...sunny with the temperature hitting 12 degrees ...couldn't ask for a more perfect riding day and stop off at Charlie's. Thank you for the friendly service and awesome food...we will be back!

We found ourselves in White Rock one night and wanted to try one of the restaurants along the water. We decided on Charlie Don't Surf because it was the only one with people in it during a cold night in the off season. Our server Kyle seemed to be the only one on staff and did an amazing job of taking care of everyone. The food and service were top notch. Look forward to returning next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Love this place! It's right on the ocean next to the boardwalk! Beautiful sunset views from outside on the patio as well as inside!! The food is amazing! Pizzas and calamari are some of my faves!
