Enjoyed *trying* to hike in the snow around Castle Lake in May. Made it .75 miles in before the snow was [still] too much! Beautiful lake, creeks, and steams in the snow. Saw some researchers from Nevada getting water samples.

Very nice place, not far from the freeway (20 min), on Monday night was full, no available spot. Come earlier :)

Nice lake with camping nearby. It's nothing compared to Heart Lake nearby, though. So if you have limited time, skip this lake and hike to Heart Lake.

Great spot to bring family or just hang out for the day. Close proximity to hiking trails and camping. University Nevada Reno overseas illuminology lab which has the longest running dataset for any lake in North America. There are interpretation panels along the shoreline with information on the lake. This is a great stop for a short trip or an extended stay. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't so popular and overrun with people.
