I am so amazed that with the availability of online deals retailers feel it is ok to hire inexperienced staff that has no idea about the products in the shelf and often don't really care to know. Gone are the days where you could go in and ask advice to purchase the right tools for a job. I visited the store asking some information on an expensive tool and the young people in charge of the section had no idea. They were trying to read the label and point out the obvious but didn't know much about it at all. I give them credit for trying which is not what usually happens, most don't seem to care. I wish they would hire middle-aged/older experienced people to train the younger ones. In an age of virtual information overload we are losing critical skills and knowledge.nBuying online seems a better option.
I’ve been shopping at this store for the past 3 years and always had positive experiences with respectful and helpful staff. That’s why this visit was especially disappointing and honestly disheartening.nnI came in looking for grass seed, and when I couldn’t find it in the usual seasonal section, I asked a staff member named Adriana. She checked on her handheld device and told me that it's at aisle 78 or end of it. So I went there and turns out to be completely unrelated kitchenware. The correct aisle was actually 91, and another staff member—who was kind and professional—walked me back, confirmed it wasn’t out on the floor, and had it brought in from the warehouse. She also mentioned that if it’s not in aisle 91, it would only be in the warehouse—not aisle 78. That made it clear Adriana simply gave me false information, likely just to dismiss me. I don’t understand why someone would do that when a customer is asking for help. If Adriana had simply said she didn’t know, I would have thanked her and walked off to ask someone else. No one would’ve questioned why she didn’t know. But instead, she acted like this was funny or as if I was a fool, and that’s what really bothered me.nnWhat upset me further was seeing Adriana laughing and ducking behind an aisle as we returned—clearly avoiding any accountability. When I asked her why she misdirected me, she rambled without giving any explanation.nnTo top it off, another customer—who had no reason to be involved—stepped in, told me to “piss off,” and the staff members seemed to fall in line behind him instead of addressing my concern. It felt like I was being dismissed and silenced, rather than helped.nnOn top of everything, I’m recovering from a meniscus tear in my knee and currently going through physio. The fact that I had to walk around the store and deal with this on top of that really made the situation even more frustrating.nnI’ve encountered so many co-op students and younger staff here who have always been kind, eager to help, and genuinely positive. This experience, however, was extremely disappointing and completely out of line.nnThis happened in the seasonal section, during a busy time when customers genuinely need guidance. I’ve had great respect for this store until now, but this experience really changed how I feel. I hope management reviews the way customer interactions are handled and ensures every shopper is treated with respect—regardless of who they are.
Car went in for a safety on august 25th, didn’t pass needed rear brakes and new shocks. No big deal, I took it to my mechanic to have the work done. I was told by the mechanic to bring the car back on Thursday night and he would be in one Friday morning and would get it looked at to finish the safety. 11:30am I call the store to see if the car was done so I had time to get to service Ontario to get it flipped over, and was told the mechanic didn’t show up and would be there by 1pm. About 1:20pm comes around and they call me to tell me that the mechanic is not coming in and there is nothing that can be done about. They have no other technician or anything in the store. So what, Canadian tire was just shut down because they have no mechanic?? So when I took my car to the mechanic to have the work done the shock did have a small leak but the rear brakes didn’t need to be replaced. The service advisor that called me told me both these things needed to be done when they called and said it didn’t pass. I didn’t even think to check the paperwork till after my mechanic said something about the brakes. Both parts were replaced anyways but the paperwork states that the drums just needed to be serviced. Their stuff have no clue what they are doing nor do they know what they are talking about. Thanks to Oshawa North I had to waste another day wait for this safety. Hopefully the mechanic actually shows up to work on the long weekend. The service staff are rude and just don’t care. Will definitely never have my car serviced here again.
The staff here are helpful and understanding. I was in a rush to purchase some Rubbermaid bins for packing when I went into this store. I got home and realized I needed more AND that I had forgotten the lids. When I went back I looked for the receipt in my purse but couldn't find it. The customer service people were so helpful. Firstly, they believed that I had purchased bins without lids and secondly, they checked my purchases via points number so that I was able to go home extra lids. Thank you Canadian Tire Wilson Rd. Oshawa
The auto department at this location has top tier service. The manager was very helpful, gave me a few options and clearly was trying to save me some money which I appreciate. With no appointment, I was in and out in an hour. I also showed up at the end of the day… brutal on my part but they didn’t even bat an eye. True professionals at this location. Thank you to Chris for doing the job, Jimmy behind the counter, and the Auto Manager sorry, forget his name - the three of you are awesome at what you do and deserve the recognition.
