Heard good things about this restaurant from other friends and reviewers. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food that they offer. Nice portion sizes for the price. The donkatsu is fried really nicely, great crispy texture on the outer coating, and the meat on the inside is still moist and decently flavourful. Plenty of curry sauce as well for the plate. Only slightly disappointed about how little rice it comes with, especially since the cost of extra rice seems a little high, but that's just a nitpick. Parking: Lots of parking
Saw this place while driving. I’m used to having tonkatsu, however donkatsu is a delightful Korean twist I’m told. There were some delicious options to be had. We ordered the combo katsu & the cheese bomb katsu. I really like the combo plate and the sauces. The cheese bomb is definitely a cheese bomb, perhaps too much cheese for my liking, but delicious. The portions are generous and you will definitely be filled. I would most likely be back. One negative is the day we went there were a number of small bug crawling on the window and window sill which can be off-putting for some. Overall great experience.
Very tasty ramen and pork cutlets. Good service with a friendly waitress. Great 80s techno music. If you can't handle too spicy food, I suggest you to choose the spiciness level of your ramen to be 0 or 1. Anything above 1 will be too spicy.
2nd time at brown and it was consistent with previous visits. Great fried cutlets and sauces! Got the everything set A, wished the sauce was drizzled on top but personal choice. Tar tar sauce went well with seafood, and the crunch was great. Rice and salad could be better.Food: 4/5
Brown Donkatsu is one of my favourite places to get fresh crispy katsu. I was pleased to find out through Instagram that they have opened up their third location in Richmond Hill. This weekend they had a buy one, get one take out special on their pork and chicken donkatsu. They aren’t allowing dine in at this time. We ordered pork katsu. The wait time was about 40 minutes. We were not given a choice of sauce for the BOGO offer, which came with the original brown katsu sauce in a box with separate compartments for the rice, cabbage and corn. The coating was crispy, light and not greasy. The restaurant will be open for dine in on April 28. Will be back to try some of the other options like curry or cheese katsu when in the area.
usually I’m super loyal to katsuya whenever I’m in the GTA and want to get katsu because there’s no restaurants in Waterloo that focus on katsu and I love their carbonara one but I tried this spot with my beautiful boyfriend and it did not disappoint !! the prices for the portion sizes were great especially because you get not one but 2 pork servings but also the dishes themselves were SO good! I adore Japanese curry a lot so I ordered the Curry Tonkatsu, it was flavourful and the pork was just as crispy as it looks in the photos. I would have tried their carbonara options but I’m PAINFULLY lactose intolerant and forgot my lactese pills, but this dish still slayed. The service here was also good and it was nice and quiet inside which I liked!

I haven’t had much katsu before so I can’t attest to the authenticity but the food here tasted amazing! The pork cutlets were super crispy and the sauce was creamy and delicious I got the carbonara one. The portions were huge but I will say the price was more than I had expected most things were around $20+. There was an issue with one of our orders but the waitress took care of every thing and made sure to rectify the problem. Overall, a great place to eat
Brown Donkatsu recently opened a new location in Richmond Hill and we were eager to try! Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted kindly and sat at our table. We loved how many options the menu had, and you can easily say there is a good variety. Be prepared to eat! The portions are large and despite other reviews, I think that the rice portion was perfect. We went with the Combo Katsu Chicken and the Everything Set, which comes with a large portion of Fried Shrimp, Fish & Chicken. For an appetizer which we now realize we didn’t really need since portions were so large we had the Cheese Stick Katsu Ap — this portion was so large! You definitely get what you pay for which is a nice change. Overall, a nice experience and they were kind as we left. I would recommend trying, but you will need a large appetite!
Great donkatsu place; super tasty and great portions. The brown sauce they used is perfect and the cutlets are deep fried well; the bread crumb coating was crispy and not too greasy tasting at all. The service was also great and quite attentive. The only negative was with payment. We were a group of 5 and they wouldn’t take separate payments even though the sign indicated this was only during weekends we went on a weekday and it wasn’t that busy. I’d say they need to improve on this level of service vs. cheaping out just because separate payments means a couple of service fees.
