About James:

James has an extensive background in Physiotherapy sports medicine and physical conditioning. He holds a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy (Queen’s University ’10), Is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual Physical Therapists and also the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) designation from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. James is an amateur athlete of many stripes (and skill levels!), a coach, teacher, speaker, and all around nice guy!

James works with a wide variety of populations (from from the infirm to national level athletes) to improve physical performance for use on the field and in day-to-day life. He develops rehabilitation protocols firmly rooted in exercise science but applied with the art required of a health professional. Every client is an individual with unique history and goals and can therefore expect unique Rehabilitation!

James is the sole proprieter of Braithwaite Physiotherapy.

James is very knowledgeable! He also showed me where exactly the irritations are on a anatomy software when I asked about it, which is super cool. Personally, I become more motivated to complete the prescribed exercises when I understand what went wrong and what needs fixing. The irritations already feel better now, just two weeks in. James is very friendly as well, highly recommend!
James is a brilliant physiotherapist. He listens carefully and diagnoses the issues with precision. His communications skills are excellent and his exercises are easy to understand and to put into action. As other reviewers have alluded to, he is also just a great human being and conversationalist and makes going to physio a pleasure. After years of sports and slowly getting out of shape my lower back and hips have been plagued with a series of injuries and I was concerned that moving into my retirement years that I would not be able to continue to be very active. James has me back on the ice playing hockey and ready to take on surfing. Thanks James!
I had a bike accident in August that resulted in hairline fractures to my pelvis. I was still on crutches when James was recommended to me. At our first meeting he asked what my goal was and I said, "to be ready to ski in January." James thought that was a little aggressive but he started working with me with exercises designed to build power and strength in my lower body. I was fortunate to be able to progress rapidly with James' support and my exercise routines became more intense. I just returned from a week of skiing out west. Not only was I able to ski but for the first time in decades I skiied without developing any soreness in my legs or knees. I can't recommend James highly enough.
I came to the clinic with a variety of injuries I wanted help with, very frustrated with chronic pain that prevented me from doing my regular workouts. James' worked to tease apart each issue and developed a plan of attack for each. His emphasis on developing a physio plan that focused on strength training allowed me to continue to work out throughout the treatment process. I was so impressed with James' ongoing commitment to providing the best care through keeping up with current research and his willingness to recommend other excellent physiotherapists for areas that he does not specialize in. In addition to his incredible skill and knowledge, James is set apart by his listening to actually hear what you are saying and his immense kindness. I can't recommend the clinic highly enough.
I am truly impressed with the incredible care support and knowledge of James. I had a severe injury where I was not able to get into his office. He made sure he came to me and was very conscientious and gentle and answered all my questions. He never once made me feel uncomfortable asking the questions. He went above and beyond and sent me some literature via email about posture. He is a kind , dynamic gentle person and really loves what he does. You never feel like he’s rushing and he’s always interested in what you have to say. He truly is a remarkable healer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend James to anyone.
Last December I went to see James to help me deal with some knee pain I was experiencing. I'm so glad I did! James is incredibly knowledgeable and I couldn't believe how after about a month and a half of going to see him, my pain was almost gone. James also gave me some suggestions on how to sit properly which would help to reduce future pain. Not only is James an amazing physiotherapist, but he's also incredibly personable and made me feel very comfortable when I went to see him. He explained what he was doing every step of the way. I absolutely recommend James to anyone who is experiencing some pain or mobility issues.
James was always polite, courteous and helpful. He has a great understanding and functional knowledge of the body and physiotherapy, and he was always sensitive to what sort of issues I was having. He followed up with me regularly and I'm glad to say that we were able to sort out my issues with his help! I would recommend James to anyone looking for a great physiotherapist.
I first visited James in November 2017 to help fix my knee pain prior to going on a skiing trip out West. He worked with me over a 6 week period with in-office sessions and at home exercises. I left for my trip in early December and skied for 14 consecutive days with no issues whatsoever. I've had one additional appointment with him when I got back and skied an additional 8 days with no pain. James was so great to work with and genuinely cared about the outcome of his work. I would highly recommend him and the Braithwaite Physiotherapy clinic, especially for sports-related injuries and concerns.
James is a fantastic physiotherapist. I hurt my knee on a hiking trip and through sessions with him, along with stretching and exercises he prescribed, I was able to fully recover. I never felt rushed or unwelcome in the office and he was always willing to accommodate for the goals I was trying to reach. The best choice for a physiotherapist in the area. The building is fully accessible with an elevator and is near a subway station for ease of travel.
While I normally move beautifully while playing hockey, I had a not-so-graceful moment and injured my shoulder during a game. Fortunately I had James on my roster and he was able to help with the injury. Not only was he knowledgeable and helpful in stabilizing the shoulder but also in strengthening it to avoid future injury. With physio and rehab being a dreaded task, James made it a smooth and easy process and was a world of help. I’ll definitely be sending people his way and seeing him again for any of my physiotherapy needs. -Brandon
