Everything about this spot is great! I first discovered this place earlier this year because I was at a business down the street and really wanted something more healthy to eat. It seemed like everything in the area was all fried unless I was willing to drive for a bit. I’m glad I came in because I discovered a new spot to get some work done throughout the week while eating healthy and supporting local business. The place is all about fresh ingredients and healthy dishes on the menu. The place is very clean and has great lighting. The crew seems to like their job. There’s pretty decent street parking, great seating with easy access plugs to sit and get work done. Also they serve beer! The owner really stands by his stuff. One time I ordered a dish that didn’t come out perfectly the first time so he immediately replaced it with something else. I had already forgotten about that day but next time I came in, he immediately gave me another one on the house, which was really cool. The place is owned by a family and the wife and kids come in everyday which gives it a really nice wholesome feel! They are really connecting with the locals in the neighborhood as a new regular spot, which is super cool. For sure try the soba bowl, beet salad, chia pudding, and the smoothie bowl!!
This place is perfect! The food is so delicious, satisfying, fresh, and healthy- we felt great while we were eating it and after we finished! The eggs were perfectly poached on my amazing Okinawa soba bowl, the chicken wrap was super balanced in texture and flavor, the honeycrisp basil Vybes drink was not too sweet but really delicious, the overnight oats were super good, I loved the chia pudding, and my husband flipped out when he tried the scones… the place was super clean, st. parking out front was easy, the owners were down to earth, thoughtful, kind, hard working people… I could go on, but I’ll end with their to-go containers and utensils being compostable - THANK YOU! Will likely come back every week!!! Rarely do I ever get this satisfied.
What a gem! The food was fresh, made to order and extremely tasty! This restaurant is absolutely fantastic and I am so happy I found it! I highly recommend it! George is the owner and chef and is absolutely passionate about his place! Go say hi and enjoy the delicious foods!
Let's start with the perfect location - between Avondale and Roscoe village just minutes from the highway. Also, plenty of local parking everywhere so this spot is convenient if you're on the north side. Food - it's not easy to find healthy and tasty at the same time. This place definitely delivers in this regard. I would try everything on the menu, but my go-to is the Souvlaki pork kabobs which comes with rice, pita, tzatziki and soufiko roasted vegetables that tastes like it was made by your greek grandmother. Drinks - I decided to try the Peach/Ginger VYBES drink and loved it. I picked up all 6 flavors before I left. Haven't seen this drink at other places. If you're a coffee drinker I would go with the Freddo cappuccino, which rivals ones I've had in Athens. Overall, really great food and awesome staff. Definitely try this place out!
Can’t speak highly enough about Blue Food. Atmosphere is amazing. Food is out of this world. George has created a true culture that can’t be matched. To say more on the food it is always 100% fresh. Not sure how they do it but everything taste like it just came out of the garden or off the farm. Perfectly seasoned and just amazing to eat. If you ever get the chance to go to blue food do it. You will not regret it.
Super under the radar breakfast and lunch spot. Service was incredibly welcoming and friendly and the food was outstanding. Great choice for a fast and healthy bite. My wife and I came in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We got the sweet potato bowl, breakfast burrito and a delicious smoothie. Would give a 6th star if I could.
We moved here in June 2022 and I wish I stopped here before today! It was delicious! My son got a strawberry banana smoothie and two different scones and he was a happy 3 year old! I got the three chicken tacos and it came with delicious rice and beans. I will DEFINITELY be back! Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly and the girl working there was very nice!
Blue Food is a great local spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch. I work in the area and this is my go to spot if I need to grab something. Owner is super nice, price is right and quality is high. I enjoy the wraps and bowls myself.
I don’t shout out a lot of places but this place is the bom bom dip da dip da dip brbrbrbrbr that’s right so good it leaves you at a loss for words. Healthy food at a great price and the owner is cool af.. I only write reviews for the best places and the worst places.. this one is on the good list Vegetarian options: Plenty Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids options no idea what they are but they look good. Parking: Somehow, I always get the front spot right outside. Dietary restrictions: Vegan options
The owner, George, has a large personality that makes you feel like family and that his family and your family are going to sit down and eat a healthy and delicious meal the next time you return. The food is amazingly healthy and there are bites from all over the world, not because George just looked them up, but because he traveled to the major cities in the blue zone in the world and took parts of dishes and created the menu for his location in Avondale. You will be treated like family but will eat like a king/queen with large servings for food that is not only healthy and delicious, but most importantly, nutrient dense. Salads are plentiful and first on the menu, while coffee and espresso is amazing and beans are from locale in Chicago. A small business mentality helping other small businesses, and George is a owner/creator/cuisine artist and entrepreneur who takes care of all...as his tagline goes: "Your healthy life starts on your plate." The people who live in the blue region of the world live to their 100s - I look forward to coming back just as often.
