I’ve tried the newer locations, but the Richmond No. 3 Road spot is still the first and the best. - OG!!! The flavor and selection here are the gold standard! It’s still very popular, so here is the 'insider guide' for your visit:n**1. The Seating & Wait Strategy:**n* **Join the Waitlist:** Always join the online waitlist before you arrive to save time.n* **Groups of 5+:** If you’re a large group, **split into two tables**. You will wait forever for a single large table, but splitting up gets you seated almost immediately.n* **The Pace:** They flip tables **very quickly**. The staff is efficient, but it can feel a bit rushed, which makes sense given the constant line outside.n**2. Chopsticks Warning:**nThey use **metal chopsticks**, which can get **extremely hot** if left in the pot. If you aren't comfortable with metal or find them too slippery/hot, you can **ask for wooden/bamboo ones** don't burn yourself especially when you go with kids!n**3. The Spice Level Beware!:**nIf you have a low spice tolerance, **do not even try the 'Mild' spicy broth**. Their spice levels are authentic and very strong. If you can’t handle heat, stick to the **Signature Pork Bone Broth** or Mushroom Broth white broth; it’s creamy, flavorful, and much safer for sensitive palates.n**4. The 'Hidden' Free Ice Cream:**nThey don’t automatically bring the **free soft-serve ice cream** at the end anymore. Make sure you **ask the staff** for it once you’ve finished your meal!n**Parking Note:** Be very careful with the lot before 6:00 PM; it is heavily patrolled and many spots are reserved.n**Summary:** Best Malatang in the city. Just be prepared for the fast pace and the 'real' spice levels!
A good place to eat when craving hot-pot. Food options were more than enough to satisfy my cravings. Fast service, reasonable price. From slection to table to slurping, it took no longer than five minutes. I barely had enough time to get my sauces mixed in order. : Highly recommended and thanks for the memories.
We went to Big Way Hot Pot on Sunday! I ordered the miso broth, which I highly recommend, and my partner got the classic Ma La Tang if I’m not mistaken. I tried his broth too — I liked it, but it was a bit richer than what I’d usually choose for myself. If you prefer a richer, more flavorful broth, I definitely recommend it. As for me, I love miso soup, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong!nOur Persian server was very sweet and smiley — I’d love to thank her as well, even though I forgot to get her name.nAlso, one bowl was enough to keep us full for the whole day! We’ll definitely be back
Food selection is decent for a meat eater, not super varied for a vegetarian. There are multiple broth options, also for vegetarians. The free kimchi is awesome! And the sauce bar as well. There is free ice cream in the end. Overall, if you're cutting back on salt intake, this place is not for you. Otherwise, can be a very affordable meal.
The male server was very helpful in getting us seats and when I forgot to order extra rice after I ordered.nFood dry pot szechuan flavor was great and so was their brown sugar milk tea. Will definitely come back to this restaurant chain.
