Best Sri Lankan Sinhalese’s food so far. Love the Lamprais and kottu.

There are many great Sri Lankan-Tamil restaurants in Scarborough. However, this is one of the very few Sri Lankan restaurants where you can get Sri Lankan-Sinhalese food (in fact I only know two including this). The lamprais is probably the signature here (only available on weekends) and it tasted exactly like how lamprais should be. I also had rice and curry, kottu, egg/fish rolls and cutlets. Everything tasted great and taste is as close as you can get in sinhalese cuisine. I highly recommend anyone who wants to try out Sri Lankan-Sinhalese foods.

I went looking for araliya catering and found out there went out of business and these opened up so i want avoid buying anything because i dont know about the food but today's special was lumbrice so i ask them buy it was soldout and the offered kotthu. Oh best kotthu in town. 100% srilankan style. I will definitely go again there.

If you are looking for Authentic Sri Lankan - Sinhalese style food this is probably the best (and probably only) place I know in the city. Have tried their Lampraise (banana leaf rice)*, Rice & Curry Box, Lankan Roti and short eats (egg rolls etc and have been impressed. The flavors on the Lampriase is as 90% as authentic as you would find in Sri Lanka. And the flavors on the curries are great. The curries available can vary day to day depending on the seasons and what's available in the market. The last time I went I had Jack Fruit curry, Beans, Fish Curry, Banana Flower curry which were all really good. They are quite generous with the portions (at least the last time I went) but I am worried that this generosity doesn't lead to downsizing or totally cutting down on stuff in the future to manage the margins as this is probably the only Sinhalese style Lankan restaurant in town! Hate losing it as we have been before! Note: Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhalese cuisines are quite distinct. While there are many Lankan Tamil food restaurants, it's rare to find a Sinhalese style restaurant. The Banana Leaf Rice and Curry you usually get at Tamil fast food places is not the same as the Lampraise. Lampraise has a unique preparation method and the flavors are quite different with a lot of Dutch influence present in it.
