We heard about this new bakery shop at Denison Mall. They have some unique Hong Kong style mini cakes for sale at only $1 each. The quality and price is definitely very reasonable & affordable. The taste of the mini cakes was soft and not too sweet. It’s not bad at all for that price. They get sold out quickly so better go early if you want to buy the ones that you like. We will definitely go back and try their buns next time.
I know this is a newly opened bakery shop , selling Hong Kong style cakes and buns. Today, I went there for the first time. The line up was not too long, maybe waited for 8 minutes to pay and get everything packed. The girls at the cashier were very helpful and efficient , very organized . I think they have improved a lot compare with those who had come across slow service that I can see at the comments . All the cakes are packed in a box and buns are nicely wrapped , They look so good and yummy ! Kids love it so much.
Huge selection averaging $2 each~ Not too sweet/salty, good size, and decent quality. Definitely the best Chinese bakery in the area given price and quality. Chocolate roll - 1.80 not recommended flaky but cheap chocolate Chicken pie - 1.80 highly recommended flaky, plenty of savoury filling Tempura hot dog bun - 1.80 okay Standard hot dog bun, but crispier from frying Pineapple bun with butter - 2.20 highly recommended soft bun, flaky top, perfect amount of butter Flaky flower thing - 2.80 highly recommended super flaky and light, not too sweet Mango ice box - 5.99 not recommended decent quality but super overpriced, got by accident T^T
Their buns look very high-end with a reasonable price. They are very busy when I visited. Everything looks so good and I am ready to get a few buns. What really turn me off is the tray that you use to carry your bread to the counter. All trays are dirty, the paper that they put on the tray are greasy see my photos. That make me think like a restaurant putting your food on a dirty and greasy plate.
I originally came to Dennison center to buy soy milk. The logo of the store is so cute it caught my attention. There was a long line at the register too note: I went on January 1st. The lines do go by pretty quickly though. The store is pretty small and can get congested. I was surprised by the variety of pastry and buns they had. There’s one staff who always check the trays and they are quick to refill the buns. They have some old classics like chicken pie and egg tart. And they also have a twist on stuff like the pineapple bun. They had satay beef filling inside or even egg and spam. I got the New Orleans deep fried chicken bun and it was good. Surprisingly it was about $3. This had more chicken than a jr chicken at McDonald’s. They also had a everything bagel with salmon and cream cheese. This was only $2.99! At other shops this will cost around $6 at least! I thought it was okay given the price. They put a right amount of salmon and way too much cream cheese. They even had a chicken drumstick inside a bun. I personally didn’t get it but it was interesting. The mango tart was so good! I love it! It had the right amount of sweetness. The mango is a bit sour though but understandably it’s not mango season right now. The mini cakes were $1 each if you buy 4. It was savoury sweet. Nothing special, it just tasted like a regular cake. The value is good though. Overall, I would defined come here again if I’m in the area. But one thing to watch out is, when you are paying, pay attention to what you are charged. It gets so busy so the cashier may skip your item or charge you the previous persons order. They don’t give you a receipt, so once you leave that’s it. Also make sure you bring cash, you can use your card but you have to have a total of at least $15. Another complaint is that since they are busy it feels as if they are rushing with packing the pastry and buns. I had a pineapple bun squished into a plastic baggy and some of the skin came off. Not a big deal but I’m not impressed with that. Finally, if you have any allergies, I would not recommend this spot. It’s easy for the food to get cross contaminated with the tongs and trays.
My new Asian buns & pastry bakery go to spot! They have a ton of unique items and a nice little twist on old favourites too! Got the abalone tart, lobster bun and even a softshell crab bun! Never have I seen these items in an Asian bakery and the lobster itself is a pretty decent sized lobster tail too! And really tasty. Made me feel like I was eating a lobster roll! Alongside those two I got a tempura covered New Orleans chicken wing bun and Al thought a little greasy, it was so worth! They also have these mini cakes which are $1 each when you buy 4 or more and a great deal to satisfy the sweet tooth without being overly sweet Service was great for me as they were willing to check the back for the lobster bun and the abalone tart as it was empty on shelf. They also let me know a couple more minutes as they were getting it all ready for me! Very nice for an Asian bakery! It can get pretty busy and things can sell out quick, but they refill a lot throughout their operating hours, which is nice! Great job overall! I come here pretty often, these buns are like none other! I love their AAA sirloin beef sandwiches as well as their pork floss buns! Prices are pretty good for the quality.
This bakery has a large selection of different types of baked goods. It's also very affordable, which is a plus. They have creations that many other bakeries do not have. The taste is quite good as well. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try something new.
The whimsical name, store signage and a bit of a lineup brought me over to see what the fuss was about. This little bakery has a lot of interesting products that you don't see elsewhere anymore because there are so few standalone Chinese bakeries nowadays. The price, I would say is reasonable for today's market and the selection was surprisingly good and original.
Have meant to go to this venue for some time. Finally did and was very pleased. Had Steak / tomato/ lettuce bun $2.22, and a Fish / tomato/ lettuce bun $2.80. Both excellent. Fresh soft tasty bun with mayo and the contents of each. Delicious and a great price $5.65. Will definitly return. Only downside was long line up that takes up some time. But it was worth it.
