Araya Sushi

This is a nice gem we found in the Markham area. We visited on a Friday night and they are busy. Restaurant is 50% full and they are preparing for a lots of take out orders. Only one server when we got there and she is running around but manage to keep everyone happy. They have Korean fried chicken on their dine in menu and I love Korean fried chicken and they make it well. Everything we ordered come out at a reasonable time and everything is very presentable. Our family love the quality of their food here. Services is also amazing!!!! They feels like we have to wait for our food for a long time and give us free appetizers to try.... Lovely! When we leave, we are on our way out and they give us a bag of food and said they are free for you to take home..... Wow... Some seaweed salad and some dumplings we can eat the next day! Highly recommended!!!

5 star for the service, the ambiance, and the food!! Everything was made to be so fresh and delicious! When the calamari came out, it was still sizzling on the hot plate, just amazing. Will definitely come back again and bring friends! Thank you for the amazing experience. Didn't have uni though

Super friendly staff. Great customer services. Sashimi are very fresh & delicious. We really love their Korean fried chicken and their home made hot sauce. They tasted very juicy & crispy. We have been here many times. Will definitely recommend to friends & family. Keep up the great food to your customers!

Recommend by a friend. The restaurant is located near hwy 7 and markham road. The night we went it was very busy with dine in and take out . Love the food The staffs were friendly and polite. It was busy but we were not rushed. Really enjoyed the dine in. Definitely I will recommend it and visit it againFood: 4/5

Finally gave them a try and glad we did! Gal's sushi was our go to but we finally decided to try Araya which is much closer to home. Service was great, very attentive! Gyoza was a miss for us, too oily and not the usual style we like. The uni was so fresh and delicious! So glad my husband doesn't like uni so I had both myself! We got the medium Sushi Maki platter, everything on it was great and yummy, and it was much more filling than we thought. Will probably switch our regular sushi order from here now

We made a reservation and got our table immediately when we arrived. We ordered salmon pressed sushi, assorted sashimi, tempura udon, jajang myeon and Korean fried chicken. The noodles were not bad. The sashimi was okay. Each slice was thick but they didn't have much taste in it. The fried chicken was juicy inside but the batter was thick. Service was good.

Having grown up in this community, I was curious to check this place out after seeing it move in a while ago. I enjoyed my experience overall, but wasn't blown away by any means. The way they laid out the space was certainly nice and the staff were good at anticipating our table's need for more tea without us having to say a word or look up! That said, I was least impressed by the food. I ordered the chicken teriyaki box with sushi and sashimi but found it to be underwhelming considering the price point. It wasn't bad, it just didn't stand out as the chicken was very serviceable not dry, typical cut of chicken, but also a very standard teriyaki sauce, and the fish was neither of standout or poor quality. What's interesting to me is that there's both higher quality sushi at a similar price, and similar quality sushi at a lower price very close by... You won't be disappointed, but I'll just say that their competition is very stiff in this area.

Update: we went back again with our friends! Their food and service the school waitress served us this time again was so kind and super attentive were 5 star+ again! My new fav roll is white dragon roll. Love their food, services, and atmosphere and we will definitely go back again! My husband took me here for Valentine's Day. We've been loving this place since we tried first time a year ago. Very friendly staff and always delicious food!

Came here on a Saturday for dinner & leaving pretty satisfied and definitely coming back. Friendly staff & service. Reasonably priced for tasty authentic Japanese cuisine....sushi & udon soup!

We came here because of the 4.5 stars. The server is friendly. But the sashimi and sushi are not up to par. The sushi rice is very vinegar. The raw fish has no taste or they are lower grade, very dry and rubbery. Worse than buffet quality. The terriyaki beef dinner doesn't even come with rice.
