My mother resided at Abington Court for approximately 18 months before her passing. While the quality of care provided was generally satisfactory, I encountered significant issues with the administration, which have worsened over time. I discovered numerous overpayments, totaling in excess of $3000, for services withdrawn directly from her bank account. These overcharges occurred while my mother was residing at the facility, with the highest frequency during her extended hospitalization.nnUpon reviewing my mother's estate accounts, these discrepancies came to light. Despite numerous emails and contact with the RHRA, the administration has failed to provide proper invoices or records of charges, and has yet to rectify the situation by refunding the overpaid amount to her estate. This added financial burden, coupled with the loss of my mother, has been deeply distressing.nnRegrettably, I am left with no choice but to escalate the matter to the RHRA, the landlord tenant board, and seek legal counsel. It is concerning that such practices exploit vulnerable seniors, and I implore others to scrutinize their loved ones' finances, if they are associated with Abington Court and Unicare Enterprise.
I had to place my mom at Abington Court last year. She has loved the sense of community, the delicious food and the constant care provided from the very beginning. The service is unmatched and the communication from administration is very reassuring. I can honestly say this is a great retirement home.
My boyfriend's father was resident there. I am a RN of 41 years.nHe passed last December. He left an impeccable home. Upon removing his belongings, they were infested with bed bugs. His clothing, the mattress and a brand new powered lazy boy Chair. They all had to be discarded. This is the truth. We have no reason to lie. The food was mediocre at best and we brought him out for dinner as much as possible. He enjoyed the nursing staff but not the administrator Vishna, who we were informed has left or been terminated. She ruled with an iron fist and staff were fearful of reprisal, or termination if they questioned her. It is sad that the money he paid to reside there and the place was infested with bed bugs. Last name Dubaich. It was brought to the administrators attention and she got all defensive and denied. I think public health should become involved. Quite poor living conditions for vulnerable individuals. If you research the reviews here they come back with some really unprofessional rebuttals. This is so sick and dysfunctional. I dont think people would make allegations of bed bugs if they did not exist. He complained of pruritis, itchy skin but never in our wildest dreams did we think he was being bit by bed bugs.
I absolutely love this place! Abington court provides so many services like fitness classes, nutritious home-cooked meals and a beautiful courtyard with a garden for my parents. They are absolutely thriving at Abington court and I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming place for your loved ones. Not to mention the staff are wonderful. Thank you Abington court for providing excellent service to my parents especially in these difficult times!
