Zola Bistro

Let's be clear, this is one of those restaurants where what you order will completely make or break the experience. While the service is nothing remarkable, I've never had an unfriendly or incompetent server. This is a great place for fresh salads and local grub. Don't come here if you're looking for comfort food or if you're a big eater and want to walk away stuffed. The general rule: the crepes are good, the salads are good, the bacon is not. This place is an especially good option for breakfast/lunch/brunch. Heads up: they can get busy for lunch during the week and brunch on the weekends - plan accordingly. Long story short, carefully read the description of what you want order or ask a server to tell you more. (Something odd is that there was a bad smell last time I was here. I'm not sure what that was about...)

Overall the experience here was awful! It started with having to wait 5 minutes to check in because there was not a hostess in sight. Once we found a hostess she was incredible rude to us and everyone around her. We understood that it was the holiday weekend and that they might be busy but having to wait 30 minutes before we even had water brought to our table, another 15 minutes to get our drinks, then an hour to get our food. One of our group members ended up having to leave because the food took so long and she had to get back to work. Once we received our food it was cold/over cooked and tasted awful. The food ended up upsetting everyone in my groups stomach! With all the options that Ann Arbor has to offer for good food you should never have to have an experience like this! Please no one waste your money!

Very high quality ingredients. Good service. Food was good. Wasn't the best, but good enough to come back another time when I'm in the mood for an artichoke omelette. 😉

Zola Bistro is great! Took my wife and 2 kids (4&6) for an early, 5ish, dinner. We split the cheese board, antipasto, and asparagus salad. Everything was amazing. Staff was extremely friendly and service was quick. It's a nice place so I wouldn't take my kids there during the busy times but we were celebrating and it was perfect for us during the week!

I may be shunned for this, but I really don't understand the hype of this place. It's small portions and overpriced. $30 for brunch per person (no alcoholic drinks) is steep. Both times I've went, my food is relatively flavorless and under seasoned. The exception is the green smoothie they have - I gotta admit, that was awesome.
