Wasn’t expecting too much as yang wasn’t my favourite brand in Shanghai either. However I’m still disappointed. The meat is too loose and almost every dumpling skin was broken. Bottom looks crispy but not. Store gives 10% opening discount, which is not bad. The other not so nice experience is the store won’t take phone orders. Guest need to go in to the store to order and wait for the food. Good thing is right now the store is not so busy so won’t need to wait so long. Will pass in future.
Decent food, surpassed my expectations. It was quite busy and some of the dishes were sold out during lunch time. I think they need more waiters to improve service, but overall I would come back again. Would recommend the soup dumplings and Sheng Jian Bao. Parking: Limited parking, may have to do roadside parking
Best dumplings in Toronto for me. It's the familiar Shanghai flavour I'm looking for. The dumplings have the perfect thin skin, juicy savory flavour, and crispy bottom. Their wonton soup is really good too. The service is really nice and friendly, and place is bright and clean. Just a great place for an easy meal.Food: 5/5
The bad experience started as soon as we stepped into the place - we stood there and minutes passed, no staff led us to a seat, they didn’t even acknowledge our presence, we literally just stood there and staring into the disordered mess of a restaurant. The staff seemed busy but the reality was that they just lacked experience, I saw two staff struggling with the machine at the front desk. The delivery guy came for pick up, and they picked nothing because the orders were messed up. It was the same mess with the customers dinning in, the staff just provided the service as they liked in random order, serving late comers first and not wiping our tables after we were seated. We stared the stains on the table for another 10 minutes The the food came very slow, we watched one news cycle on CP24 and our order still hadn’t come. One waitress wiped her sweat on her face and place her palm on our back, apologizing and to assure us the food would come soon. We could feel the warmth emitting from her body after a full-day of busy work. We have written every of these down and the food still has not come. Update: The food finally came and was bad, which was not a surprise. You could definitely do better cooking by yourself at home. It was more of an absurd than an infuriating experience. If you got nothing to do and wanted to waste away your own night chilling hours, this is the best place for you
Friday special is one of the best combo! Yang's cheese and beef dumpling are absolutely fantastic! I personally admire this creativity. Strong recommend to every one!
The owner is super nice and friendly and keep us updated about the food and kitchen. Their soup dumplings are super fresh with lots of soups and the bottom pan fried part are crunchy and they taste like the ones I had in China. Would love to come back! Thank you!!
The buns are great, other stuff is alright, not as spectacular. Service is a little chaotic, but it’s probably because it’s just opened.
I’ve been waiting for the Yang’s Dumpling franchise to open in Toronto for soooo long and it’s finally here. To my pleasant surprise, the quality is just like I remembered it to be when it first had it in Shanghai. I definitely recommend the pork dumplings over the shrimp but it’s good to try both. The spicy and sour noodle was just okay. Would definitely come back for the dumplings!
Having spent much of my childhood in Shanghai, I was absolutely ecstatic to see Yang's open up a few minutes away. At this point in time, this location has not lived up to my expectations. What I liked: - Wonton Soup - Beef Vermicelli - Sheng Jian Bao; overall flavour was good and the base was nice and crispy What I did not like: - Beef Noodle Soup; noodles were way too overcooked - Scallion Noodles; tasted extremely plain - Sheng Jian Bao; inconsistent amount of soup across baos, meat texture was very loose - How unprepared they were in the first week of opening. With so many locations across Shanghai and such a small menu, there should be no reason why they wouldn't have been able to learn from how orders should be processed. The competition is fierce in this area for Sheng Jian Bao, so Yang's will need to shape up quick. I'll be back in a few months to try again, but for now Sang Ji is still the #1 in the area.
I’ve been looking forward to this place opening as I have tried it in Shanghai. However when I got it today to takeout - the dumplings don’t look fresh. I’ve sent the pics to my friends in Shanghai and they said it looks like it was leftover from yesterday :
