The spicy sour soup is Amazing. This is a review for delivery: The doughy wrapper on the pan-fried mini pork soup filled dumplings $9.95 for 7 pieces are a little thick, but it makes for a hearty bite and there is actually broth captured within each one. Perhaps what I most appreciated, was the time these spent in the pan as we could actually see and taste the golden crust stamped on the bottom of each xiaolongbao. An equally beautiful yellow hue could be founded on the chicken potstickers $9.95 for 6 pieces, the wrapper on these thinner so the gingery filling could shine through. We added an extra $1 to have them finished in a chili sesame sauce, which gives it a different nutty quality. Lee's steamed pork and cabbage dumpling $8.95 for 8 pieces are pricy compared to the traditional Scarborough dumpling houses I frequent like New Northern Dumplings. Still, the flavours were on point, the filling well seasoned so each bite was salty enough even without the soy or chili dipping sauce that comes with the order. We'd skip the pork wonton soup $8.95 for 12 pieces, which was a lot of soggy wrapper and not much else. Considering all the other dishes were so flavourful, the seaweed broth that arrives with the soup seemed so tepid and forgettable. Who needs soup when you already have soup filled dumplings?
I usually don't write reviews when I have bad news but this one was very shocking and disappointing, as I had seen so much good about this place. I ordered soup dumplings and custard buns, and after tax/delivery paid $25. When they came, the dumplings smelled/tasted nauseating and they were chewy, and on the underside of one was a small hair. The custard buns were fine, but the bottom was soggy and overall I feel sick after eating, and just as hungry as I started. Will be sticking to juicy dumpling; tastier, and much cheaper for better quality.
The soup dumplings were fine, but the broth smelled foul and tasteless. We threw it out. The dumplings, pork and cabbage, and pork and chives were underwhelming in taste—all frozen and then boiled and fried. The onion pancake was a colossal piece sprinkled with a few green onion flakes. Overpriced, it was a total disaster. Never again.
I regretted trying out this place - soup is like water with chili oil floating on top. Steamed dumplings have a chemical taste to it and honest to God I didn't know what I was eating - ingredients tasted nothing like what a steamed dumpling shld taste like. It was a horrifying experience. I was scammed by the 4.6 stars now 4.3 on Google. How did they even get a star? I would give negative if I could. Food should not taste like that. Horrifying.
Sampled several dishes steamed beef dumplings in spicy sauce; onion pancakes, pan fried mini soup dumplings, pork wonton in soup. Mediocre quality. Fairly small portion sizes for the price. The spicy sauce was a faint coating and was lacklustre -- certainly not spicy. The soup dumplings were fine but quite uninspiring and contained very little soup. The wonton were small and bland and tended to fall apart in the soup which tasted of little more than the seaweed. The onion pancakes were doughy and did not taste much of scallion -- though the portion of them was plentiful. While it was nice to see a dumpling spot appear in the neighbourhood, it is worth the trip to get better quality product elsewhere.
For frozen dim sum it's not a bad spot, but prepared food is inconsistently priced and generally low quality.
Yum yum yum! New neighbourhood gem. We found out about this place and ordered some dumplings to try. Prices are reasonable, since dumplings don't travel well, we were happy to find this place nearby. We absolutely recommend this place.
Delicious and authentic dumplings. Dine-in seating is available but limited.
