Amazing food and neighborhood bar. Having just moved to the area, I’m still working my way around and decided to pop in here for dinner. Great selection of rotating taps and good house cocktails, but man the food was amazing. Perfect onion rings and honest feedback from the bartender between a couple items. Steered us in the direction of the duck sandwich - which I cannot stress enough - is one of my favorite sandwiches I have had in as long as I can recall. Definitely will be back to work my through the rest of the menu.
I've been to the Wolcott tap twice. The first time was a lovely experience. We had a server who brought us water right away and then asked if we wanted a paper menu which we did. We ordered the spinach dip and the chicken lettuce wraps and a few drinks. The the sauce on the chicken lettuce wraps was overpowering. The spinach dip was so cheesy and very good. The second time I went there it was a completely different experience. The service was horrible. A woman told us we can sit wherever we wanted. She came and slammed some water down and then walked to the bar. She had moved a sandwich so that we could sit at a larger table so when I went up to the bar to ask for a menu I wasn't sure if she was eating or not since her back was to me so I was trying to ask the bartender who completely ignored me. She said that she would be with us in minute to take our order since she was going to deliver a drink. Since she was walking away I looked at the bartender and asked for menus. He looked at me like I didn't exist and walked away. So darn rude! I was really looking forward to trying the burgers because they looked good but we decided to just walk out since so rude
Very nice staff. Bartender was extremely professional. When our food was taking a little bit longer, he came up to apologize by himself. Food was amazing. Onion rings, grilled cheese, fries, everything tasted great.
This place is as solid as a bar/restaurant comes. The inside is fairly narrow but goes pretty deep, so there is usually abundant seating. The outside also has seating when the weather is nice. The bar has an abundant number of beers on tap, so it's usually pretty easy to find a beer you want. They also do fun cocktails, like the hot toddy I got last time I was there. The food is probably the best part. I usually get the Duck Grinder because it is my absolute favorite thing on the menu. I don't even usually like duck, but the way they cook it is so crispy but also moist at the same time. The bun is soft and buttery in contrast. The last time I came in, I managed to order some wings, which have many sauce flavors to choose from. They we delicious and I have no complaints about those. I will keep coming back here whenever I get a duck craving. I hope to try out some of the other food items over time as well. Definitely a solid spot!
Best burger on the north side! Mac & cheese bites are crispy and gooey like none other. Chicken sandwiches are also top notch.Food: 5/5
Great place. Go here a lot with friends. Have liked everything I have gotten here. Fries are different and delicious. I recommend this place to anyone in the hood. Kid-friendliness: We brought our toddler and they were very accommodating Parking: The parking can be a little tricky but usually there is a paid spot available
This is a nice little neighborhood bar/restaurant with a nice selection of beers and menu options for whatever mid level meal you might be craving, burgers, sandwiches, wings et. The prices and daily specials are also welcoming. I didn't scope the restrooms, but the space itself seemed pretty clean. The service was good, maybe a little too good as my plate was cleared before I was finished and my friend was literally still eating as the waitress was clearing her plate. She finished the rest of her food in hand, eating over a napkin she set up for herself. Otherwise an overall pleasant experience.
The bar decor is pretty cool. Really laid back and chill. After everything this location has gone through, it's awesome to see that a new concept actually makes sense. They have a small selection of tap beer and bottle. The bar is pretty cool. The food can be better though. It's mainly bar food which is fine, but it is nothing I can not dine anywhere else. I'll come back and give it another try !! Good luck!! This corner is cursed.!
Wolcott Tap is cool, better-than-average but kind of inconsistent local bar. I've had the spicy barbecue fried chicken sandiwch and that was great. Crispy batter friend chicken with barbecue sauce, pickles, and all the trimmings. The spiciness did not register as I ate which may be good for some with more sensitive palettes. I went back a second time and that's where the illusion kind of died for me. I ordered a moscow mule which came in a glass, not a copper cup. That's fine, but it was a disappointing beginning seeing as the interior of this establishmebnt is so polished and they have a prominently displayed cocktail menu. It just seems like the kind of place where they would take these kind of details into consideration. We can argue the necessaity of a copper cup with a mule, but I enjoy it and it alters the taste slightly in a metallic way that really compliments the citrus in the cocktail. Anyway, we ended up ordering a duck sandwich which came out covered in some sort of mayonaisse sauce that might have been labeled as aioli. The duck was dry and the sandwich was big and clunky and at least 60% bread. For myself, I had ordered the shrimp tacos and they were drowned in some sort of sriracha dressing that absolutely ruined the rest of the tacos. The tortillas were falling apart due to being submerged under the dressing. There tacos didn't have much in them besides these battered shrimp so I just ate those with a fork and didn't even finish them despite them being somewhat tasty and there not being that many of them. Dumping sriracha all over your food is not a substitute for good cooking. In general, I think the trick with this place is knowing what to order and what to avoid. I'd come back if I were hungry for a sandwich and try a few others, or just stick with that fried chicken. And I will definitely come back and have drinks at the bar or on the patio. The decor really is nice. The servers have been pretty friendly overall. If they had less but better menu items and made their cocktails with more love I would consider this place a 4 star.
Great neighborhood bar and restaurant!!! They have really good burgers, salads, and brunch along with a decent selection of beers!
