Until tonight, I liked this store a lot. We live close and are members, so we stop in often. But, I was really disappointed tonight when I saw an entire family-- dad, mom, kids-- shopping barefoot. I mentioned it to my cashier, who said, "Oh yeah, that's allowed here because the owners are kind of hippies, you know?" I pointed out that it's a health department violation and I don't think the health department cares if someone is a hippie and she said, "Yeah, they know that, but it's allowed." I'm sorry, but not wearing shoes in public is really gross and dangerous. I'm super liberal in most ways and feel that people should be given wide berth in their personal preferences, but I do believe that health codes are there to protect everyone and should be respected. I can't believe a food service business decided to disregard a health code because they just feel like it and want to be cool hippies. And if that is truly the attitude of the owners, then I have to wonder about cleanliness in other aspects of the business-- if they don't care about bare feet, then what other rules imposed by the health department do they choose to ignore because they feel like it? I'm going to think twice before buying anything off the hot bar, pastries, etc. from now on and stick with pre-packaged stuff.

Wonderful variety of products, including fresh & hot ready-to-eat items. Decent, reasonably priced tamales! Lots of items that are organic, gluten-free, whatever. The people who work there are friendly & helpful.

Everything I got here was fresh. Check out was fast and the employees friendly. The prices are higher than most grocery stores but you get what you pay for. They had a really good cheese selection.

If I could do 4 1/2 stars I would. Limited selection. Their hot deli selection is quite tired. Prices are a bit higher, but so is the quality. Staff is friendly and helpful. The place is always very clean. Great selection of meats and cheeses. I wish the rest of the store had equally as great of selections.

This location is smaller than the main Willie st location, so some options are limited. Not so much a downside, the convenience is worth the difference. The selection of local produce is a bonus, as well as organic and conventional products shipped from other areas. I've always had great experiences with their bulk products, it's especially nice to take a small size of tea and test it out before committing to a significant amount! I appreciate being able to choose my servings based on need and budget. I enjoy the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, the coop takes care of its employees and it shows.
