We live near this park and walk through it every day year round. It's a beautiful place. The campground is well maintained and the staff are wonderful. The boat ramp provides easy access to Elk Lake. There is a nice picnic area with a little bit of playground.

Great place to launch a boat for elk lake. Just don't like the dirt road that it's on.

My experience is with the launch, which is a nice ramp. The low rating is due to the terrible advice given to me by Margo (the attendant). She gave me incorrect directions to Skeemog, and Torch river. She laughed at my questions about shallow water and stumps telling me " They put yachts in here" and " there's only stumps at the south end of Skeemog". She said she had never heard of anyone hitting one. I hit a tree exactly between Elk and Skeemog, it caught my outdrive and pole vaulted my boat a couple feet out of the water. She gave me completely incorrect information. If you don't know that's fine, but don't pretend that you do, especially in a situation like this. My boat is a 21' bowrider with an outdrive. I wasn't loaded down either, just my wife and I. There was a man closing the launch when I returned, he said people hit stumps all the time going to Skeemog and someone had died last year. Next time I want to go on Torch I will launch on Torch. I liked Elk Lake better than Torch, although the sand bar on Torch is very cool. Ramp fee $5.00.
